"I'm sorry honey but we can't afford it anymore. You'll be starting next week." His mother said to George at the dining table. He had just been told that he couldn't be homeschooled anymore and had to go to public school. George knew that money had been a little tight lately but he still hoped they could spare a little more.

"W-What about dad's child support money? Can we use that?" George asked desperately.

"I used that for groceries. George, you'll be going to school and there's nothing you can do. I know you have that touching thing or whatever but you're going to have to deal with it."

"You don't understand." George got up from his chair and ran down the hallway to his room and flopped onto the bed. The walls were olive light green with glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling. There was one wall filled with bookshelves of his favorite novels and had his desk with a pc on it in the corner of his room. His bed was twin-sized with cloud sheets and his favorite stuffed bunny sitting on his pillow.

George pulled the bunny to his chest and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Today was Monday. The day George goes to school for the first time in 3 years. He went to his closet and chose an outfit for the day. He decided on a purple and white striped sweater with a moon in the corner with khaki jeans and white vans. George goes down the hall and sees his mother cooking breakfast.

"Good morning George," she greets, "are you excited?"

"uhh no." why would I be? George thought as he sat down at the table. His mom handing him his breakfast consisting of eggs and toast smiling at him.

"I know being the new kid can be scary sometimes, but you'll be fine. You'll make tons of friends."

George rolled his eyes biting into his toast, "K. I better get going."

George stood up from the table with shaky hands and began going to the front door. He took a deep breath, put on his backpack, and opened the door, starting the long walk to school.

The closer he got to school, the shakier his hands became. He didn't want to be here, he didn't want to have to cower away from every person around him, he didn't want to be so...

So broken.

He wanted to be able to hug people, he wanted to not flinch away from his parents, he wanted to make friends. He wanted to be normal.

But life doesn't work that way does it? Nope. It'll all be perfectly fine until it decides to beat you with a stick. A really big stick. Made of metal. That's on fire.

At this point, George was at the front of the school. He looked up and saw the enormous amount of people surrounding him and almost fainted at the sight. There were a lot of people.

And they can all send you into a panic with one single touch

He looked up at the series of buildings in front of him. They were all grey and gloomy with bars on the windows which made it feel like a prison. All the buildings were lettered but it seemed like none of them were in alphabetical order which would make George lost very quickly. There was one two-story building beside another building, that looked like the office, that was very bland and wasn't very nice looking. But then again it was school, it wasn't supposed to look nice. He looked at the building that looked like the office and started walking towards it and stopped in front of three doors.

Which one do I go into? The councilors office? The attendance office? Or the normal office? Why are there so many offices?!?!

George decided to go into the regular office and if he was wrong hopefully they could tell him. The regular office was smaller than he thought. It was just one large desk in the corner with a lady behind it.
