Sorry this took so long, I've been busy with school. As I said, chapters may be shorter as I have less to write about and I'm still figuring out things. I said there will only be like five more chapters, that may be wrong, I'm writing until a certain point and I don't know how long that will take. Chapters may/will take longer to come out, sorry. Thanks for all the reads. Italics is something spoken in Norse.

Atreus stood in the arena of Camp, a bearded axe in his right hand, a shield in his left. Freydis stood across from him, a worried expression on her face. Atreus was training nonstop in preparation for the war against Hel and Loki. After Loki killed Jake, Atreus had barely spoken to anyone except Freydis. Freydis had talked with Kratos, not knowing how to comfort Atreus, his advice was "be there for him. He is in a dark state. He will need you, he doesn't know what to do. He has suffered, he grew up with people who hated him, he lost his mother, his brother betrayed him and now he has lost his best friend. He is lost, and all he has is the grief and anger. Being the god of Revenge, Anger and Bloodlust, I have passed all of that down to him. He will be guided by them, leaving him even more broken. You must lead him away from the path of vengeance." The words echoed in her mind, Atreus hadn't spoken of Jake yet, of how he feels. Freydis knew he would talk to her eventually.

Atreus was walking through the forest when suddenly a Jotnar appeared. Atreus drew his axe, ready for a fight. The Giant raised his hands in surrender, "I have not come to fight you. I am here to inform you that some of our forces will support you against your brother and niece." "Why?" "We remain loyal to our true king, you. But others are still allied with Hel. When you forced Thrym out of your body, it killed him. We will follow you." "I cannot ask you to fight against your friends and family. I do not deserve to be king." "To most it does not matter, they will fight and die for you." "Thank you. You may return to Jotunnheim." With that he left, leaving Atreus alone in the wilderness. He didn't want others to risk their lives for him. But he needed their numbers. Hel and Loki had the armies of Helheim, Muspelheim, some of Jotunnheim and the dark elves. Atreus had the two camps, some of the Einherjar and now the rest of Jotunnheim.

Pacing in his cabin, Atreus was worried and angry. Freydis sat on their bed as Atreus groaned in frustration. "What are you worried about?" Freydis asked. "That it won't be enough. We are going against the army that is fated to destroy Asgard." "We can do it," she said confidently. "No we can't!" He yelled. Freydis flinched at his tone. Atreus slowly sunk down to his knees, Freydis quickly sat down next to him. "Everyone expects me to lead them into battle against the enemy, but that enemy is my brother. The brother who taught me everything I know. I don't know if I can do this. Loki has made me suffer, he killed my mother and my best friend, but he is still my brother. I don't think I can lead everyone." "But you already have. When your mother died, you lead the Einherjar against Hel." "I was driven by revenge. I wanted to avenge my mother. But we weren't as close as we could have been. That fueled my anger. Jake was not only my nephew, he was my best friend, that was more than family. His death has left nothing but pain, anger and grief. I have made mistakes. I let Jake die, I let my mother die, I killed innocent people, I couldn't protect you in Helheim. I did all of that. And now I'm the King of Jotunnheim." "You know what I believe, I believe you can lead us. It wasn't your fault they died. You didn't kill those people, Thrym did. I can protect myself, you know that. Not everything is your fault. You can't do everything, you can't protect everyone. But you can try. You can stand and fight, I will be by your side. We can do this, together."

Atreus and Freydis sparred in the forest, like old times. It helped him, he felt better. They laughed as they swung their swords at each other. They disarmed each other at the same time. They both laughed loudly as Freydis tackled Atreus to the ground, straddling him. She stared deeply into his eyes. She leaned down, connecting their lips. A faint horn was heard in the background. Freydis sat up with a sigh and a disappointed look on her face. They kissed quickly before walking back to camp. When they got back, Chiron was waiting for them, "I know you are having a difficult time. But you are required to have some kind of education." Atreus' eyes widened, "you're sending me back to high school?" Chiron nodded, "you haven't had any form of education since you got here. I know that a war is coming, but right now, you have to go to school." "Couldn't Charles or Zoe tutor me?" "They are also going to school. Freydis can go with you." That seemed to calm Atreus, "fine but I won't like it, I was kind of unpopular." "Really? Why?" "I was the skinny, 5'1, foster kid. You can see where I'm going. Am I going to the same school?" "Yes." He sighed then walked away with Freydis.

Looking at his old school, Atreus breathed nervously while fidgeting with his fingers, Freydis grabbed his hand and smiled up at him. Atreus didn't know if people would recognize him, his eyes were different, he had shorter, lighter hair, he had tattoos, he was now 6'6", and many other things about him changed. He looked down at his girlfriend and relaxed, they started walking to the school. As they got to the door, Atreus was distracted and his face smacked right into the top of the door. "Ow! Ohh, son of a-!" "Atreus," Freydis warned. They heard a gasp in front of them and saw a girl with her hands covering her mouth. Atreus' multicolored irises gazed onto the girl and widened in surprise. "Emily?" Atreus asked. She walked up to him but had to tilt her head up to look him in the eyes. "Where have you been for the past three years?" "Places. Could you not tell the others I'm-." "Atreus!" "Or not." Three people ran up to him and tried to tackle him in a hug but they only latched onto his waist. They all yelled out questions to him. "Ok. Why don't you guys take a step back? And then I will answer questions." They stepped away from Atreus and then expected answers. "Where were you?" "I was traveling and dealing with some family problems." "How did you get so tall?" "Genetics." Atreus and Freydis laughed slightly. "What happened to your eyes?" "They developed to this." "Who is she?" Everyone's eyes snapped to Freydis, who was leaning against a locker. "This is Freydis, my girlfriend." Emily looked down in disappointment as the other three looked at her in sympathy but Atreus was focused on Freydis. "How long have you been together?" "It feels like a hundred years." Freydis said ironically. Atreus laughed a little, confusing the others. "Oh right, Freydis, this is Emily, Jack, Maggie and Liam. They were my friends when I went here." "I thought we were best friends?" Atreus clenched his jaw as Freydis' eyes widened in panic. She quickly tried to calm him down, it mostly worked. He glared at the others, who flinched in fear at his anger. "I only have two best friends in my life, one's dead, the other is Freydis. So don't compare yourself to them, you are nothing compared to them," he spat with anger. Freydis quickly led him away, leaving them shocked.

"I think we could train some campers to use a shield wall, while we have traps and archers in the forest to use against the Dark elves." Atreus told Freydis in Norse as they walked through school. Many were surprised by how Atreus now looked. "That could work, but what do we do with the Jotnar on our side?" Freydis responded. Atreus thought, then said "They could fight the other Frost Giants. That only leaves the Fire Giants and Hel's army." They were interrupted by Atreus' old friends. "Hey. What's up?" "Not much." "Can I talk to Atreus, alone?" Emily asked. Atreus looked at Freydis, who nodded, and kissed her cheek before following Emily. He had to duck under the doorway before looking down at Emily, "what did you want to talk about?" "We have known each other for a long time." "You knew me for a year when we were 14. We haven't seen each other for three years." "But I love you." "You barely know me. Do you know who my parents are? Do you know why I cut my hair? Do you know why I got these tattoos? Do you know my favorite band? Do you know my dead best friend's name? No. But Freydis knows all of those things. She knows me better than anyone, she calms me, she gives me control. I love her more than anything in all the nine realms. She is and always will be everything to me, you aren't." With that he walked away, Emily was too heartbroken to notice he said nine realms. She looked down in sadness when her friends came up to her. "Have you seen Atreus? Him and Freydis walked away from us and then disappeared. Wait, are you ok?" "I told him I loved him and he rejected me." "I'm sorry but what did you expect. He goes missing for three years then comes back super tall, muscular, with tattoos, scars and a girlfriend. You really expected that to work. I've seen the way they look at each other and that love will never die." They all hugged her, but they knew she was wrong.

Sorry this took so long. School and other stuff. The high school part will come into play in the sequel but for now I'm going to focus on preparing for the battle. Thanks for all the reads and votes. Vote and comment. Stay safe.
