The next day, Sunny and I woke up extra early because it was our first day of school. Sunny immediately went downstairs to make breakfast and I made sure that everything was in our backpacks: a pencil case with all the necessary stationeries, clothes, blankets (because Sunny couldn't stand sleeping without her fluffy pink blanket), toiletries, you know, all the stuff.

Then I came down to the kitchen, where Sunny was cooking scrambled eggs. Yum.

"Mmm, smells good," I said. "Excited?"

"If I wasn't excited, Bee, I would've made oatmeal with raisins," Sunny replied.

"Ew."

"Are you nervous?" Sunny asked. "Nervous? Why would I be nervous?" I said blankly. "You know, new school, new everything," said Sunny.

"Holy potatoes, Sunny. You, along with Violet and Klaus, were accused of being murderers and arsonists, but you were never nervous. You have been locked in a bird cage millions of times, but you were never nervous. And now it's just a new school, and you're nervous?"

"Come on," said Sunny. "But all those times, Violet and Klaus were with me through everything. Now they won't be with me. So I'm very nervous. I haven't done anything on my own before."

"Yes you have," I said. "Think about it. You always had a plan of your own, which you always revealed at the end of everything. And anyway, what about me? I'm gonna be with you, even in class!"

"Yeah," smiled Sunny.

"Nervous?" asked Klaus, who was coming down the stairs. "I heard a little of your conversation, and Bee's right. And of course, there's always the holidays."

Klaus and I cheered Sunny up, and eventually she was more excited than I was.

Violet came down. "I smell scrambled eggs," she said happily. "I made them, here." Sunny passed a plate to her, and the four of us sat in the dining room.

"So," said Violet, "from today, you two won't be in the house for a long time."

"We'll miss you," said Klaus. "Us too," said Sunny.

"We will visit Prufrock, obviously," said Violet.

"Yeah, and you'll make friends," Klaus added.

"You are like parents," I said truthfully. "Even you, Sunny. Ever since you three started raising me back at the island."

"Yeah, cause that's what I am," said Sunny. "A parent since I was three."

We all laughed.

We finished our breakfast and I had a question. "How are we getting to Prufrock?"

"Car, of course," replied Sunny. "I'm gonna drive, obviously."

"Oh, woah woah woah, hold your horses," said Klaus. "Look, Sunny, we know you can drive, but the police doesn't."

"But we can tell them that!" Sunny argued. "It sounds really easy, but you'll have to explain how you know how to drive, and then they will know you have driven a vehicle before," said Violet.

"So?" asked Sunny. "So," said Violet. "The police unfortunately doesn't allow people without a driving license to drive." Sunny huffed. "Then how are we gonna get there?"

"I'll drive," said Violet. "You don't know how to," Klaus told her. "Sure I do," said Violet. "I work in a car factory, I know perfectly well how it works." "Have you driven before?" I asked. "Well, I often test drive the cars to see if they work, and I have a license."

"Oh," said Sunny, disappointed.

"Sunny," said Klaus. "I know how much you love to drive, but we're not supposed criminals anymore."

"Yeah, we should follow the law," I joked.

"Maybe I can get a driving license," said Sunny. "And then I'll be allowed to drive!"

"Sure," said Violet. "But for now, I'm going to drive."

We got in the car and Violet pulled the thing, and we were off.

I didn't know how far the school was from our house. We passed signs and streets and highways, I saw cool things from the window of the car. There was a man doing magic tricks on the sidewalk, and people were giving him money for that. Sunny pointed out a restaurant with a huge picture of a fish on it. "It looks like Cafe Salmonella," she said. Klaus wrinkled his nose. "Don't you dare say the word 'salmon' in front of me."

"It feels nice to drive somewhere without Mr. Poe," Violet remarked. "You said it, sister," said Sunny. "He's a disgrace to his profession."

We drove in silence for a while. Then Sunny said, "Do you know who our teachers are gonna be?"

"Probably some V.F.D agents," I said. "The ones who survived."

"You think there will be Fernald there?" Sunny asked hopefully. "I haven't seen him in like, forever."

"Maybe," said Klaus. "And your fellow students are all related to Volunteers."

"All of them?" I asked. "Yes," said Violet. "If they took random people it wouldn't be secret anymore."

"True," said Sunny.

Sunny's POV:

Finally, we reached Prufrock. It looked very different from the last time I came here. The main building was renovated and was painted white. On the front was the motto, 'The world is quiet here'. The many buildings in two lines were still there, and the thing that attracted my eyes the most was the ground.

When we first came, the ground was dry and cracked. Now there was grass everywhere, and the white of the building looked fresh with the green grass all around it.

"Woah," said Klaus. "I want to go here." "I never knew Prufrock could look good," said Violet. "It looks way prettier than you said it was," said Beatrice. "I love it," I said.

We got inside, where it looked way posher than it formerly was. We were greeted by Jacquelyn Scieszka. "Baudelaires!" she cried. "It's been so long!"

She awkwardly hugged me, Violet, and Klaus, and she gave a small gasp when she saw Beatrice. Tears began to form in her eyes. "Beatrice Baudelaire," she said. "It's great to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too," my adopted sister said politely.

"You look just like your mother," said Jacquelyn. She turned to Violet and Klaus. "You've grown so much! Now, you two can always visit whenever you like. Sunny, Beatrice, have you got all your things? Good. You can say goodbye for now, and come join me in the auditorium. Sunny, you know where it is." She left us and the four of us looked at each other.

Violet gave both of us a hug. "Goodbye," she said. "We'll come visit on Saturday."

"Sure," I said. "I'll miss you," said Beatrice. It was very hard for her as she was only seven and about to leave two of her siblings for the first time. "We will too," said Klaus. He looked at his watch. "I'm getting late for my shift at the library. See you on Saturday!"

Violet and Klaus got in the car and we waved at them until we didn't see them anymore.

Beatrice gave a sniff. "It's okay, Bee," I assured her. "We'll be fine." "Yeah," said Beatrice. "It really is like Violet and Klaus are our parents, because they're so much older."

I nodded. "Now, we had better get to the auditorium," I told her. "Let's go."
