Beatrice's POV

Sunny and I walked back to the school, eager to tell the others what we had learned. As we reached, we saw that there was also a crowd of teachers and students surrounding two people I recognized as Noah and Charlotte.

We went closer. "They're working for Esme!" Noah kept saying. "They were talking about her and were desperate to start their plan." Charlotte nodded.

"We heard some people too!" Sunny piped up. "I've written their whole conversation in my notebook. Or at least, what we heard."

I looked proudly at my sister, grateful of her fast writing skills.

Jacquelyn turned to us. "Can I see this notebook?"

Sunny handed over the notebook.

As Jacquelyn read, her expression became more and more serious with every sentence. "Looks like they're planning something big, involving the younger trainees," she announced. "All of you are in danger."

"What do those people look like?" Larry asked Noah and Charlotte.

"We saw three people, two women and a man. The woman looked identical like twins, they had brown hair and brown eyes. One of them had a mole on her cheek," Charlotte explained.

"And what about the people you saw?" He asked us.

We quickly described the four people we saw and heard, as Larry took notes. "All of you may proceed to your classes. We'll hold an assembly later in the week about this. And Volunteers," he added, "This is also an opportunity to investigate about who these people are. But be careful. Anything funny, tell us immediately."

We all nodded obediently and went off to class.

Sunny and I met with Flynn and Evan, and then we walked over to Noah and Charlotte, who were going to class. "What did those people say?" I asked them.

"They said something about your family," said Noah, looking straight at Sunny. "About Violet and Klaus."

"What was it?" Sunny demanded.

"I forgot," Charlotte furrowed her eyebrows, trying to remember. "Something about using them and you to lure the others in."

"In what?" I asked.

"I don't know, that's what they said," Noah shrugged.

"Let's talk about this during lunch," Evan suggested. "We're getting late for class."

Charlotte and Noah agreed and together we headed for our next class.

As we headed for the cafeteria, we saw Charlotte waving at us at an empty table. She had saved seats for us.

"I'm waiting for Noah," she explained. "He's getting a hotdog."

Everyone at Prufrock knew that getting hotdogs normally took you about half an hour to get because of reasons involving a mouse and a parachute. That's the rumor they spread, anyway.

"I got the notebook," said Sunny, giving it to Charlotte, Evan and Flynn to read. When they finished, Flynn took a huge bite of his sandwich. "Stress eating," he explained after looking at my worried expression.

"This is worse than we thought," said Evan. "Esme recruited people to help with her plan, and they know about VFD. Surely, they'll know about all of us trainees too."

"And one of us is in serious danger," Sunny added.

"Your siblings are in danger too," Charlotte said. "We need to warn them."

"They visit every Saturday," I piped up.

Evan shook his head. "Saturday could be too late."

"We can go to our house after class today," said Sunny with a glint in her eye.

"How?" Charlotte asked.

"Well, you see, I know a little something about driving," Sunny smirked.

Finally, Noah walked over, holding a soggy hotdog. "What did I miss?" He asked. "A lot," said Charlotte, filling him in.

***

That evening, Sunny, Evan, Flynn, Charlotte, Noah and I sneaked out of the school.

"There must be a car somewhere," Sunny muttered. "Even if we do find one, how are we gonna get inside it?" I asked. "It would be locked."

"That's why we have lock picking class, don't we?" Noah smirked.

Charlotte showed us the bobby pin she was wearing. "We're using this," she explained.

I nodded in understanding.

We reached the street and approached the first car we saw. It was white and looked like all of us would fit in there. No one was in it, so we figured it'd be safe if we used it for one night and put it back in the morning.

Sunny got her disguise ready. She needed one, otherwise the police could catch us and demand why a bunch of ten year olds were in a car without supervision.

She put on sunglasses, tied her hair, and as Charlotte opened the door, she propped up cushions on the driver seat to make her look taller.

The rest of us piled in the back seats. It was quite big in there.

Sunny hesitantly started the car and before we knew it, it was up and ready. "How did you learn to drive?" Asked Flynn, flabbergasted.

"I don't know, maybe I watched so many people drive when I was a baby, and I do remember Father showing me how cars worked for some reason. He must have known I'll be a driving prodigy," Sunny explained, smiling.

"Do you remember how Mr. Baudelaire looked?" I asked.

"Um, actually, I don't," Sunny admitted. "Klaus says he looks a lot like Father when he was younger, so I guess I have some idea."

Chatting, we drove along the road and before we knew it, we were in our street.

"I miss home," I sighed.

"Bee, its been, like, two weeks," Sunny laughed.

"I know! Two whole weeks since we left!" I insisted.

We got out of the car, Sunny parked it in the shadows just in case, and the six of us approached the entrance to our house, hesitant.

"You have the honors," I told Sunny. She nodded, took a deep breath, and rang the doorbell.
