I impatiently knock on the door for what seems like the 500th time.
C'mon, c'mon...
The door creaks open and without thinking, I burst inside, tripping over my stupid heels.
"Pfft. Dork." A voice says from behind me. I whip my head around to see familiar blonde curls, neatly tucked in a messy bun.
"What do you want?" I say through gritted teeth, clenching my fist. Celine replies with a short, cold laugh.
"Why do you always assume I have something to do with this?"
"This isn't funny, Celine. Where's Mom?"
Celine hesitates. "Upstairs."
Liar.
"Celine, where's Mom?"
Tears prick from her eyes. She clasps her hand over her mouth, shaking her head. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry,"
Questions fill my head, my eyes flood with worry.
"Somebody broke in and.... Mom was shot."
"What?! Celine I told you not to lie to me--"
"I'M NOT LYING!"
"How? Nobody could break in it's just not...."
"I'm sorry,"
"Will you stop saying that?! It's not your fault!" I lean agains the door, tears threatening to leave my eyes. She stares at the floor.
"It is."
"W-what? How?"
Her breathing gets heavier. "B-because I helped him."

Revenge.
It's such a strange word. You always hear the villain of a movie whispering about their sweet, sweet revenge.
Revenge.
It's what my sister wanted. She met a guy at school who soon became her close friend. She told him about me - how I supposably "ruined" her life. He promised her revenge.
She never knew he had a gun and a plan to break into our house and to kill.
Mom's not dead.
I sit beside her, in jeans and my favourite sweater, a bouquet of slightly wilted roses in my hand.
Mom's not dead.
I remember the doctor telling me what happened. She was shot and fell on the floor, causing damage to her head.
Mom's not dead.
She's in a coma.I place a piece of her hair behind her ear. It felt so out of place to see her like this. My overly-confident, silly, embarrassing mother, her eyes shut, her face pale - it's not right.
I hear a light knock on the door and see a nurse standing by the doorframe.
"Okay, hon. Visiting hours are over - you'll have to go now."
I nod and place the flowers on the table next to her.
"I'll come back tomorrow, okay?" I say.
Silence.
I sigh and walk out to the waiting room.
"Hey," Celine says. I don't say anything back.
"I'll drive you home?" She asks. I slowly nod. She gives me a slight smile then places her hand on my shoulder, causing me to flinch.
"Look, I get it. You're mad-"
"Don't touch me!" I yelp and push her away. She opens her mouth to speak but I cut her off.
"In fact, don't drive me home! Don't touch me, don't you even talk to me ever again, you lying, cheating rat!" I aggressively wipe my tears with the back of my hand. She looked hurt, but I didn't care. I turn run out the room and pull out my phone.
"Adison?" I croak.
"Hey! Courtney what-- Court, are you okay?"
"Can you pick me up?"
"Uh, where are you?"
"The hospital..." I say and tell her everything.
