Guilt. That's what he felt every time he saw you, thought about you, talked to you. He felt guilty that in a way, he was using Daisy to bury his feelings for you. Most of all, he was feeling guilty because he held hands with a girl wishing it was someone else.
It took a lot of courage to be able to talk to you straightforwardly again. He knew he had been ignoring you, but that day he finally made up his mind to try and go back to the way things were. He didn't want you to believe that he would leave your side simply because of another girl. After all, you had never left his side.
That day he arrived a little earlier to practice. Sitting on the stairs and waiting for one of the upperclassmen to show up with the keys for the club room. He played with the small box that he often carries with him ever since that day at the park.
The small box was something he held in his hands regularly, even though it was supposed to belong to you. He plays with it and the necklace inside of it when practice is stressful, when he's thinking about you, pretty much whenever he's alone with his thoughts.
The box brought him so much peace and so much heartbreak at the same time.
A few days after they both walked you home, it seemed like Kageyama was really trying his best to talk to you normally again. You knew this, but despite his attempts to treat you the same way he did before getting in a relationship, you never fully gave in. You were trying to give Daisy the same respect she gave you as his best friend.
You weren't affectionate towards him, you simply talked and joked around with him. Nothing more than that. He'd be lying if he said he didn't miss your hugs.
He looks down at the necklace in his hand. Holding it by the golden chain, he thinks back to all those times you guys spend walking around the park and looking at the flowers. You guys usually went when the sun was setting. You loved the way the flowers were lit by the moonlight. You loved being able to look up and see the many stars decorate the night sky.
He was so deep in his own world that he didn't notice the girl that had been watching him for a few minutes now. She watched him play with the necklace. It wasn't the first time she had caught him. The first time she saw him was a few days after their first date. At first she thought it was for her, but she never received the gift. She was curious about it, she had been meaning to ask about it, but she never had the courage for it. But her question slowly answered itself after the day they walked you home.
