The walk was awkward. Daisy starts small talk and you try to keep the conversation going to the best of your ability. Sadly, you weren't the best at talking to others.
"Have you guys known each other for long?" She asks about you and Kageyama.
"um" The sudden question takes you by surprise. "No, we met at the beginning of the school year actually" He nods, agreeing with your response.
"Really? you guys seem so close, I thought you were maybe childhood friends."
"Well, his mom does show me new baby pictures of him every time I go over"
"Shut up, don't you dare say anything." He says out loud. You smirk.
"There was this one picture where he-" Your mouth is covered by his hands. You try your best to avoid the blood rushing to your face. He removes his hand and squeezes your head.
"Ouchhhh stop, you'll make me go bald" You whine causing him to laugh.
He only ever truly laughed when you were around. It amazed her. They'd been dating for a few weeks now but she had never actually seen him laugh.
"I told you to be quiet and you didn't listen" You try to take his hand off your head which only causes him to grip on your head tighter.
As she watched the both of you interact with each other, it didn't take Daisy too long before her own insecurities kicked in.
It didn't take a genius to put two and two together.
You stop in your tracks. Looking at the side, you see a small bunch of pretty flowers. Slightly swaying back and forth, dancing with the wind.
"Are you okay?" Daisy asks.
"Oh yeah, I'm sorry, it's just, these flowers are so beautiful." You say crouching down to softly touch the petal of one of them
"They are pretty," She says. "Do you like flowers a lot?" You nod.
"Yeah, I used to spend hours researching about them when I was younger. I love them so much, I could spend hours talking about them" you answered.
You look at the daisies, such pretty and delicate flowers.
But the sun was about to go down, and they were going to close back up.
You see Kageyama stand next to you. You get up, ready to walk away.
"Please don't make fun of me for what I'm about to do" He says, crouching as he picks up a few flowers.
He gets up from the ground, with two small flowers in hand. He hands one to Daisy, a white carnation. Grabbing it, she looks at it in awe.
"Y/n!" You turn your head after hearing her call your name, "you know about flowers right? What is the meaning behind this pretty flower?"
"The white carnation stands for purity and luck" You say to her. She smiles.
Kageyama turns to face you, with a flower in his hand. He hesitantly hands it to you.
A red daisy.
You look at him in shock. You delicately grab the flower, not wanting to damage it in any way.
"What is the meaning behind that flower?" Daisy asks.
"Uh," you think before you answer her question. "Gratitude." You didn't think that telling her the truth was the best idea. "It's mostly given to a person when you feel thankful for their friendship, so thank you tobio" You turn to him, giving him a small smile.
She really did want to believe you, but seeing the way Kageyama was so quiet about it, the small blush he had on his face, and the shock you had on your face just made her question if there was another meaning behind that flower.
She brushed it off, but she couldn't help remember what Kageyama said on their first date together.
"Beauty that the person receiving the flower may not recognize."
The meaning behind was the reason why it became one of your favorite flowers.
Kageyama knew the meaning, and you knew that. He was trying to communicate with you through a language only you two understood.
You both would go to the same park multiple times a week, and every time you would spend hours admiring the flowers, telling him all about them. Of course, seeing how happy it made you only made him want to learn more about it. He would spend hours researching new flowers, animals, or things you were interested in.
He'd arrive to morning practice late because he had spent the night before learning new things all just so he could share something with you. It was no coincidence that he specifically chose this flower.
It was always hard to tell what ever ran through your mind. You hid your emotions, but he could read you like a book. He knew you so well, a lot of the time he could know how you felt without having to tell him. Which made it much more surprising how oblivious he could be to your feelings towards him.
He knew about your insecurities, you'd say how much you hated your appearance, and laughed saying it was a joke. He knew it wasn't, that behind that laugh you were being honest. It broke his heart. It pained him so much to think that you truly disliked what you saw when you looked in the mirror.
He wanted to help you realize that you were beautiful, because to him, you were the most gorgeous girl he'd ever lay his eyes on.
All three of you guys walk back home, mostly in silence. You walk a bit slower than them. Looking down at the moonlit pavement. You didn't understand why he thought that now was a good time to give you something with such meaning.
But you didn't mind, you knew that you'd be holding onto the flower for a long time.
"Well, this is my home" You say. "Thank you for walking me. it was nice talking to you guys." Daisy says bye to you.
"Bye stoopid" You hear. It makes you smile as you close your door. You completely forgot about what happened earlier at the gym.
Talking to him relieved all of your pain. Even if he was the cause of it in the first place.
