Third POV
| Flashback to the past |
"You're heading out again?" Sam groaned, watching as his best friend threw on a clean outfit.
"Yep, and you can't stop me." Rob laughed, gathering up his wallet and his car keys.
"I bet that you're going to go see Sara, aren't you?" Sam eyed Rob, raising one eyebrow.
"Ding ding ding! Can't believe how smart you are." Rob joked, checking his phone as he sent a text to someone.
"Y'all been hanging out an awful lot. What's going on between you two, huh?" Sam questioned, hating how secretive Rob was being with all of this.
"Nothing is going on ok? We're just friends." Rob dismissed, placing his hand on the doorknob.
"Then explain to me why you're always sneaking out late and coming back late? Sounds an awful like you two are more than what you tell me." Sam crossed his arms and legs, not amused by Rob's lying face.
Rob sighed, "Ok, fine. Maybe you're right. But, it doesn't really matter." Rob shrugged, waving goodbye at Sam before he could ask anymore questions.
"And that's the person that I call my best friend." Sam shook his head, scoffing as he turned on the TV.
Rob ran up the stairs two at a time, face giddy and excited to see Sara. His mood has significantly boosted from all of the hours he gets to spend with her. It's like she's his boost of serotonin.
He feels so energized every time he gets to laugh and be around her. Everything about Sara just made Rob insanely happy and his days a thousand times better.
Once he reached the roof, he took a moment to compose himself. He straightened his jacket, checked his breath, as well as combed through his tangled hair.
He opened the door, feeling the fresh afternoon air tickle his face and neck. He was smiling by the time his eyes landed on the girl who gave him a reason to live staring right back at him.
"What took so long?" Sara laughed, waving Rob over to the bench that both of them call their special spot.
"Nagging roommate. He thinks that we're together." Rob chuckled, sitting down next Sara's petite form.
"Interesting. Guess we're too obvious. Maybe we should tone it down." Sara teased, fingers playing with the fabric of Rob's shirt.
"Maybe." He kissed Sara's cheek, earning a cute giggle from her.
"What's up?" Rob started the conversation they have everyday.
"Nothing much honestly. School is school. How about you?" Sara asked, interlacing their hands together.
"Just been waiting all day to see you. Nothing too special." Rob sighed, feeling Sara's grip on his hand tighten.
"Me too, babe." She kissed Rob's hand, feeling content in many ways.
They sat in comfortable silence for a bit, enjoying each other's presence and the sounds of the city beneath them.
The birds chirped around them, clouds moving slowly across the blue blanket above them. Everything just seemed so right and so meant to be at the moment. Seemed like everything was just clicking into place.
"Hey uhm," Rob started, breaking the still silence, "I was wondering if you'd like to come meet my parents later?" Rob questioned shyly, earning a warm smile from Sara.
