My dearest James, I had fallen in love with you.
And to you it was unknown-
That it was never my intention,
To kill two birds with one stone.
The kindness in your heart,
The goodness in your soul.
I knew it would crush you,
But we both knew I had to go.
Soon it would all be a distant memory,
Just an ache in your big little heart.
"I couldn't go on without you,
And just have a brand new start".
You had said one day:
"We have time, probably not enough of it, but still some."
But how could I even try to prepare you,
For what was soon to come.
I was an outcast-
And I didn't belong in this beautiful world.
Although I wish I could stay with you,
And be swirled and whirled and twirled.
My dearest James, I thought that you would say:
"Evelyn, if your name was death,
I would still fall deeply in love with you.
Because even though you are now gone,
You should've taken me too."
