Bonnie stalked towards their table but halted when a pale blue eyed man stepped in front of her. He had blond hair and was broad shouldered. The way he talked to her it was obvious that they'd known each other for a while.

" I thought it was going to be just the two of us," Emma said to Kai.

Emma didn't hate Bonnie. And she knew Damon all to well to know that this favor, whatever it was, would somehow end with a knife in Kai's chest. And she knew that she'd do anything to make sure that Kai didn't go back to being the emotionless brute he used to be. For his sake, she decided to stay.

" I thought so too," he said. " I mean, I did tell Damon that if he wanted his mom back he'd have to, you know, convince Bonnie to not loathe me entirely so that I could work my way up to forgiveness. But I was like, eighty-six percent sure she wouldn't show up."

Her eyes flickered, a shadow of pain clouding her expression but it vanished within a second. Kai hesitated, worried that she'd get up and leave. He hadn't been fair to her, he'd admit. " You were hungry," he said. " Aren't you gonna finish your food?"

" Yes, but Kai-"

" Good," he decided for her. " Come on. You should sit next to me." He pulled a chair out for her.

" I was gonna stay anyways," she said, plopping down besides him. " I just — when does it stop? Running around doing everyone's bidding. I'm tired, Kai," she said, leaning her head against his shoulder.

" I know," he said, brushing his lips against her hair. " I need to do this last thing. Then I'll stop. I...I promise."

She already knew that she'd follow him anywhere." I'll help you," she said.

" So, you're not mad at me anymore?" He asked.

" Oh no, I'm still furious," she said, letting go of his arm.

He leaned forward, a wicked smile curving up his lips he whispered," I can make it up to you." His hot breath fanned her cheek, sending a shiver down her spine. " I'll make it up to you all night if you want."

Her heart thumped heavily against her chest and she was fairly aware of the blush that crept across her cheeks.

Emma didn't notice Bonnie appear until she was right in front of them and had to clear her throat to catch their attention. Kai pulled away from Emma, not before flashing a smirk that she knew was a promise of just how he intended to make it up to her. He turned to greet Bonnie.
