I left the store with a sigh. I Still had no clue what to think and do about Jess. One the one hand he helped me with the assignment, on the other hand he had beaten the shit out of the other student, who was apparently still with the school nurse. It seemed he was two different persons within an hour. While I was passing Luke's, my heart rate quickened because of a certain brown haired boy, who was currently serving Babett, with a kind smile. My heart skipped a beat at this smile, which seemed to brighten up the whole room and showed his dimples. Suddenly I had the urge to enter the Diner just to admire his smile from up close. But when I opened the door hearing the ringing bell, which announced my presence, his smile immediately disappeared and caused an impression that something was missing on his angelic face. Wait what. What the hell have I been thinking about. I sounded like a lovesick teenager. That was the moment I realised I still stood at the door like a complete fool. Jess already watched me suspicious. I quickly sat down at the table at the corner of the room, blushing furiously. I quickly took the menu, not me missing the glance Jess shot me before leaving to the kitchen. Only to come out of there again but this time discussing quietly but not quiet enough with Luke. „ You can't leave me here alone, Luke", he hissed under his breath. Luke looked at him curiously before he opened his arms as if he wanted to present the whole room, and answering: „ Jess, there are only two people here and one of them is your age. You can talk to him and I don't think their will be a sudden rush hour out of nowhere. You'll be fine." And he left the diner. Jess looked slightly uncomfortable while coming to my table. „What do you want here?" He asked annoyed. I looked him up and down, sliding over his fit appearance which usually included a leather jacket, but was replaced with an white simple T-Shirt which lightly stretched at his broad shoulders. Out of a sudden boost of self confidence, I smirked and said: „I have to eat, you know", quirking my eyebrow. Jess looked a little bit taken back, but regained his confidence and cold look. „Like I expected", he answered without showing any emotion. „What exactly do you want to eat?", he rolled his eyes. „I would like a burger with fries, please." I answered politely. Jess rolled his eyes again. „ And what kind of Burger?" I smirked at his reaction and told him: „I don't care, surprise me." He nodded and rushed away. My eyes followed after him, unable to take my glance away until he disappeared in the kitchen.

After waiting for 20 Minutes I was kinda annoyed, I went over to the counter and rang the bell after him. Shortly after Jess disappeared at the counter with a stressed look which changed quickly to an face of annoyance when he saw me. „Just wait a damn minute, would you?", he said. I looked at him and replied: „I've been waiting for almost half an hour, now" He stared at me with gritted teeth and hissed: „Alright I see what I can do for you." I sat down And he disappeared again, but this time he returned with my burger and fries. As he put down the plate I could feel his fingers brush against mine, and I felt like a bolt of lightening struck into my stomach at the accidental touch. I asked myself if he could feel it too. Still on the high confidence level I asked him if he would like to sit down too. Jess looked at me as if I lost my mind and said: „No". I cheesely responded: „Oh come on, Darling. You don't have any other customers and I don't think that somebody would steal the Ketchup while you're gone." When I looked him in the eyes and saw that his cheeks were slightly blushed. I could get used to him blushing and I was I was happy that me calling him Darling caused this reaction. But it only lasted for a few seconds. „Fine, I guess", he muttered while pulling out the chair next to me. He sat down and while I was starting to eat my food, he looked at me curiously before grabbing some of my fries and shoving them into his mouth. I looked at him and he said confidently: „If you want my company it costs you some fries." I smiled.

We fell silent for a few minutes, while I asked myself how to ask him about the incident with the boy he punched. I had to start the conversation casual, so he won't shut up again . I was happy enough to sit next to him, but I knew that this calm time was limited by the high temper of the other boy. I looked him up and down, realising I couldn't get enough of this sight. I smiled fondly „Why won't you just ask Caeser to make you some Fries. That's like the whole point of having an owner of a Diner as an uncle." He showed me his typical Jess smirk. And I had to admit, it was quite addicting. „Well it's just more fun to steal them from you." He answered, leaning a bit closer. I suddenly couldn't breath. He was so close I could recognise some of the freckles, you couldn't see from far away. His eyes looking deep in mine. And I dropped my gaze to his lips. My heart sped up. How would it feel, if I kissed him right now. In this Diner, at this table, feeling his lips on mine, tasting the saltiness of the fries he ate a second ago, and his body against me. I licked my own lips at the thought. Maybe he would wrap his hands around my neck or would rest his hands in my hair, pulling softly, while I would hold him gently at his chin. But before I could do anything I maybe would regret later, Jess leaned back, his hands full of the fries he stole of my plate. I exhaled slowly. This boy definitely had too much influence on me. And I was scared he knew it. He seemed like someone who knew how much of a tease he was. I dropped my gaze to my plate again and tried to fix my thoughts again. I felt Jess eyeing quite curiously, which brought my attention back to his face. I gulped. Jess seemed not to be affected by my unusual behaviour. "How was your shift Dosey Boy", he asked me casually, as if f the past few seconds didn't happen. I tried to fake a steady voice while answering: "Fine. Nothing unusual." "I think I heard Taylor shouting a few times.", Jess shot back. He got me there. "Well, he has quite a temper, like another person I know." I said with an obvious look at him. Jess seemed unbothered by this comment and shrugged, but his eyes told me a different story than his attitude. "Nevermind. Sorry for being concerned. Next time I don't ask.", he whispered. He looked a little bit sad and I felt a sudden urge to hug him. But I didn't dare. So I decided to change to subject before Jess decided to leave. „I appreciate it that you're worried. But it's fine. How are you, though. Do you enjoy working at Luke's." Jess chuckled at that. „Yeah, of course. It's bloody brilliant to work for Luke. I just get criticised every day for my behaviour, my hair and my clothes. Although that's nothing new, I guess." The boy shook his head as if he couldn't understand he just said that to me. There was this feeling again. I wanted to protect him and never stop hugging him. But again I was to afraid to do what I wanted to. „I like your hair, clothes and your attitude is not that bad, either." I suddenly blurted out. Jess looked up again and I blushed crimson. He looked at me with a faint smile on his lips. „Thanks", he simply said. I nodded, not trusting my voice. An embarrassing silence fell over us and I was relieved when Luke came through the door and ordered Jess to help him carrying the bags from his trip to Dosey's. Jess stood up and leaved but not without winking at me first. My cheeks burnt like fire even after I payed, left and went home. Only after I closed the door to my room I realised I forgot to ask Jess about the fight, but I wasn't sad about it. It only meant I had an excuse to meet him maybe some time again.
