Chapter 13: Kat is Back, Yo!

(A/N: hello my beautiful readers :) so I'm back!! And with updates! <3)

Yumi's P.O.V.

They finally released me from the hospital but on strict orders to "take it easy", whatever that meant.

Kakashi met me at the hospital entrance and gave me a closed eye smile.
"It's good to see you on your feet and not bleeding everywhere," he chuckled, ruffling my hair.

"Hey! It's your fault I was bleeding anyway!" I exclaimed, glaring at the masked ninja.

"And, pray tell, how is it MY fault that you were bleeding?" Kakashi asked, ignoring my glare completely.

"Well.. I... That is.. I don't know! But somehow it is!" I replied haughtily, walking past him with my arms crossed over my chest and a pout.

"Hey, that's not fa--" Kakashi was cut off by a yell down the street.

"Onee-chan!" Samika was calling, running towards us.

I jogged towards her and gasped when she stopped in front of me. Samika was covered in what looked like bite marks and was holding something in her hands.

"Samika, what happened to you?!" I gasped, pulling her to me for a hug.

"Yumi, you have to help him! He's so little and weak!" Samika cried, opening her arms.

A white bundle of fur was curled up against her chest, shivering noticeably. It was a young Artician Fox an much too young to be without it's mother.

"Please, Onee-chan, save him! Please!" Samika was begging, tears forming in her light green eyes.

"Of course, Sammi. I'll do everything I can."

I turned to Kakashi and spoke.

"Kakashi, I need you to take us to your place, immediately. And please, if you don't mind, carry Sammi. She's about to fall over."

Kakashi nodded and picked Samika up as I took the small fox from her. He started walking down the street hurriedly, wasting no time.

I walked behind him closely while rubbing the foxes fur the wrong way to warm it up. The little guy needed milk and warmth and love. Samika would be a good mother to him.

We finally made it to Kakashi's place and I rushed through the door. I spotted a blanket draped over the back of the couch and snatched it up, wrapping the little fox in it.

"Aiden.. Where's Aiden?" Sammi asked drowsily, barely awake.

"I have him now, sister. I'll take care of him until you wake up. Trust me," I answered, smiling down at Aiden.

"Okay, Yumi, I trust you," she mumbled, going back to sleep.

I noted that Aiden was still shivering considerably and stood from where I was sitting on the couch. Kakashi had laid Samika down in the guest bedroom and had rejoined me in the living area.

I handed him Aiden and walked towards the window, throwing it open.

"Yumi, what are you doing?" He asked, rubbing the fox through the blanket.

"The little guy needs a mom. And I know just the cat," I smiled before putting my fingers to my mouth and whistling loud.

Within minutes Miya was perched on the window sill looking at me with her blue eyes.

"You called, Lady?"

"Yes. Sorry for interrupting your hunt, but there's a young fox who needs a mother touch and warmth," I explained telepathically, motioning towards the small bundle in Kakashi's arms.

Miya didn't bother to reply as she padded towards the silver hair ninja and the white haired fox.

Before Kakashi or I could say anything, Miya had Aiden by the scruff, carrying him over the couch and curling up with him close to her stomach.

Smiling at my wonderful companion, I turned to Kakashi and let the relief show in my eyes. His eye reflected the same emotion and we smiled at each other.

"Kakashi," I said, breaking the silence, "would you mind going into town and getting some goat milk if you can find some? If not, the freshest cows milk will work. Oh, and the smallest bottle you can find?"

"Of course. I'll do what I can. I'll be back shortly," the silver haired ninja replied, looking at the sleeping fox and attentive cat before heading to the door.
