Partying at the Old Mill had become a Salvatore tradition after midterms. Everyone who isn't staying back for the break is due to leave in the morning, and the older students also end up spending their rides back home hungover. Alaric wasn't exactly fond of the tradition since it reflected poorly on his control over the students, but he was (literally) powerless to stop it. The witches put up a silencing spell so the noise wouldn't carry over to the school, so Alaric had no idea it was even happening until herds of intoxicated students came rushing back inside.

Penelope could always be found at said parties; she was in attendance at pretty much any party at the Old Mill, and she still somehow managed to keep her grades above everyone else's. It was incredibly frustrating to students who didn't go to parties and still couldn't do better than Penelope

Lizzie has a working theory that the girl makes her minions do her work for her, but Josie knows it's because Penelope happens to pick up material easier than everyone else does. More like she's a huge nerd, and only Josie knows that.

Josie was only really found at parties by Penelope's side, and since they had broken up Josie didn't spend much time at the Old Mill. She didn't want to run in to Penelope, and she liked having the room to herself while Lizzie was out. But tonight Lizzie wouldn't let her stay in, and convinced her to tag along with Hope and Landon. Josie doesn't know how her sister does it-she has a huge crush on Hope, but manages to hang out with her and her boyfriend every weekend.

Hope and Lizzie were surprised at the lack of convincing it took to get Josie to pregame the party tonight-she practically jumped at the opportunity to do shots, and it might have been concerning if Hope and Lizzie weren't already buzzed too. Josie took a few too many shots, but she assured them she'd be fine.

They stumble out to the Old Mill an hour later, and low and behold, the first person Josie sees is Penelope Park taking a shot off some vampire. Josie thinks her name is Sophie, but she's not sure and not particularly concerned with finding out. Penelope looks over the girl's shoulder at Josie when she's done collecting the lime from her lips, and she shoots her a wink when she sees her.

Josie rolls her eyes and goes off to find a drink.

"I'm surprised you were able to avoid her for so long" MG says as her pours Josie's drink, and she takes a large sip before she answers. "I'm not, I've been very strategic." Josie says, slurring a little.

MG smiles and takes a sip of his own drink, "So how's Lizzie?" He asks and Josie groans, "About as hopelessly in love with Hope as you are with her." Josie shrugs and MG sighs, "Soon she'll see what she's missing." Josie admires MG's confidence despite the constant rejection Lizzie always gives him, but he really should just give up by now. Josie has tried to set him up with other girls, but he always bombs the dates.

Penelope manages to disrupt their conversation minutes later, "MG! Come be my partner!" she calls out and walks up to him with a drunken smile on her face. She's only a little buzzed, but not as drunk as Josie, who stumbles as she turns to face her.

Josie catches her foot on a root in the ground, and Penelope quickly steps up to catch her.

"You should've just let me fall." Josie grumbles and pushes Penelope off of her. Her ex is still close and she steps closer as she speaks, "Didn't you already fall for me, JoJo?" she teases, enjoying watching Josie grumble.

"Fuck off" Josie steps away, tripping over her feet again as she tries to storm off.

Penelope doesn't let her out of her space though, and holds her up again with hands shooting out to grab her hips and stop her from falling.

"Stop it!" Josie frowns and squirms as she tries to get out of Penelope's grasp.

Penelope shoots a completely un-entertained look at MG, who is smiling in amusement at the two of them.
