"Hey," Jungkook said into the phone. "Can I come over?" My best friend of nearly two years and crush of 8 years, Jungkook. Yes, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 Jungkook. But being hurt by too many boys in the past, I was scared.

I smiled down at the phone as butterflies exploded in my tummy. "Sure," I tried to sound as cooly nonchalant as possible. "Yay! I'll be there in 15," he said, then hung up. I squealed, burying my face in a pillow and kicking my legs. Then I stopped. "Oh my gosh, I have to get ready!" I realized, scrambling to my feet and up the stairs. I didn't have any makeup, but I changed into an oversized sweater and shorts instead of my pajamas, then washed my face and made sure I looked at least decent.

Exactly 15 minutes later, the doorbell rang and my dog started barking. I was a bit confused since Jungkook had the keys to my apartment and he would usually come in and scare me half to death. I unlocked and opened the door, shushing my dog, then burst out laughing when I saw a mountain of bags and boxes with legs. "A little help?" Jungkook said, his voice muffled. I took a few bags and the boxes on top of the pile from him and moved aside so he could enter. "Ahh," he sighed as he put everything on my kitchen island and collapsed on the couch.

I looked at everything. "What's all of that?" I asked. "Food," he answered. "You look nice, by the way," "Why did you buy so much food?" I tried to ignore his compliment, but couldn't help blushing a bit. "To eat," he gave me a 𝒅𝒖𝒉 look. "Well, yeah," I laughed. "But why bring it here?" "I wanted to eat with you," he shrugged.

"Ok, then let's eat!" We tucked in. In the end, Jungkook ate most of the food, but there were still so many leftovers. "This will last me weeks!" I joked. "You'll have to come over every day to help me finish it," "That sounds good," he surprised me by replying seriously, looking into my eyes. I blushed and looked away, trying not to smile.

Just as he was about to leave and we were walking to the door, he turned around and said, confidently," Y/N, I like you," I looked at him in shock. "No, you don't," I said. "Yes, I do! I am 100% sure that I am completely in love with you, Y/N!"

I looked away from his eyes. "I don't like you," I whispered, feeling a sharp pain in my chest. "Why?" he asked. "I just don't," I replied quietly, not daring to look into his eyes in case my eyes and tears gave me away. "Ok," he whispered as tears filled his eyes. "Then I'll just go," And he turned to go.

Looking at his back, I remembered a time when I had twisted my ankle miles away from home, and he had piggybacked me all the way back. Then I thought back to us laughing together, him looking at me, and I suddenly realized that he wouldn't hurt me. Because he did love me.

"Wait!" I said. He stopped in his tracks but didn't look back at me. "I do, like you," I said. "I like you so so much," I started sobbing. "I've been hurt so many times that I'm afraid of loving anyone anymore," He turned around. "But I do love you," I looked up at him. "So, don't go,"

He walked slowly to me, holding me in his arms as I sobbed against his shoulder. "I would never hurt you," he said. "And I'm not going anywhere," "Promise?" I looked up at him. "Promise," he firmly said and hugged me even tighter.
