"Well... in the spirit of honesty..." you begin, looking toward the floor to calm your sudden nerves. "and a little alcohol..." you both chuckle. "The only reason I wanted to stay a little longer was because of you."
You look back up at Regina to see her shocked expression. You're pretty sure it's positive shock but anything could happen at this point.
She pulls herself out of her trance by blinking once and slightly shaking her head.
"Why?" She asks as if it's the most ridiculous thing to say.
You laugh under your breath as you process her question.
"Because... truthfully, I've never met anyone like you before." You begin shyly. "And for some reason I feel like no one in this town understands you."
Regina rolls her eyes to herself, as if she knows something you don't.
"Yeah. Well, there's a reason for that." She mutters to herself, but you catch it.
"What?" You ask softly, looking at her expectantly so she knows she can open up to you.
For a moment, she opens her mouth slightly, as if she's about to speak but abruptly snaps it shut.
"Nothing." She shakes it off and covers it with an abrupt sharp smile.
Although you're disappointed, you won't push her to tell you anything. So you take the cue and drop it.
"Well... I don't know anything about your past and I don't need to. I see the person that you are right now and she's kind. I see a loving mother, a hard-working, strong mayor and a woman who could do with a friend." Regina looks to you with glassy eyes and you fight the urge to rush across the room and hug her. She doesn't say anything for a second, she only smiles gently but you can see in her eyes that she's communicating a thousand words."How about another drink?" You ask as you hop out of the chair and walk over to collect her glass.
She stands up with you and follows you to the kitchen."Well I hope I manage to make your stay worth it." Regina smiles as she leans on the counter, watching you pour out two more glasses of apple cider.
"It's living up to the expectation so far." You quip back with a grin, handing back the brunette her glass.
"I'm glad." She almost purrs as she smirks into her sip.
You both maintain eye contact as you drink the beverage, feeling the tension grow between you.
"You know..." Regina clears her throat and looks to you with a teasing look in her eye. "If I remember correctly, the night you arrived in Storybrooke, you called me hot."
You suddenly feel your palms grow sweaty, so you take another sip to distract your mind.
"I did?" You smirk into your glass as you raise your eyebrows at her.
Her eyes flick to your lips as you bring the glass back down from your mouth. You see her perfect teeth bite down on her bottom lip.
Jesus Christ.
"Mhm." She slowly steps closer to you.
A long moment of pure tension passes by, almost nothing but the sound of your heartbeat rattling in your ears and your breathing getting heavier.A moment of silence feels as if it lasts forever, you hear your heart beating in your ears and unintentionally get lost admiring the features of Regina's face.
"You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen." You whisper into the space between you. Thank god for the alcohol giving you a little more courage.
Before either of you can think, Regina plants her lips tenderly onto yours. You freeze for a second before deepening the kiss and melting into her touch. She takes the glass from your hand and puts it to the side.
You both pull away for air and you see her eyes frantically darting across your face, trying to judge your reaction.
"Stop thinking." You whisper once more as you tuck your hand across the back of her neck and pull her in once more.
Her hands find their way onto your waist and she pulls your body against her own.
You tangle your fingers into her perfectly styled hair and hear her moan lightly into the kiss.
You tug just slightly on her hair and her neck becomes more exposed. Immediately you begin places tender kisses across her skin, noting all the places that you hear Regina groan a little louder.
She cups your cheeks and pulls your face up to meet hers, a frown lightly skims your expression and she brushes her thumbs across your cheeks.
"I don't want to hurt you." She smiles but you can see the emotion behind it.
You pause for a moment, just taking in her beauty and considering your response.
"We don't have to do anything you don't want to." You kiss her lips softly one last time before pulling away. "I do like you, Regina."
Regina takes your hand tenderly.
"It's not that I don't want this. I do. But I'm so complicated and I just don't even know if I can open up enough for you."
You quickly cup her face in your hands, knowing her mind is about to go into overdrive.
"Hey." You bring her attention back. "Don't worry about that. Take it one day at a time. Just do what feels right in the moment."
She smiles softly and kisses you deeply before abruptly pulling away.
"Sorry." She winces slightly. "It felt right."
You laugh under your breath at her.
"You know, people say that the Mayor's intimidating and scary, but..." you begin to smirk at her face in your hands. "from this angle, she looks pretty unthreatening."
She rolls her eyes at you with a smile and pushes your hands away.
"Yeah, well if you start telling people I have feelings I'll have to kill you." She saunters away across the kitchen and you watch her sway her hips as she goes. "Are you coming or do you want to stand in the kitchen all night?" She teases as she turns back around to see you frozen in place.
"Coming." You blurt out as you suddenly swing into action again, obediently following behind Regina. "Madame Mayor." You tease with an eye roll to her back.
She gives you a playful glare over her shoulder before leading you up the stairs.
