"You ready to go lil?" Jay shouted from the kitchen. Lily didn't respond but a few seconds later she appeared with her jacket in her hand, she grabbed her badge and gun then nodded. Jay smiled sadly at her but left her alone, they drove to work in silence after what happened last night. When they arrived to work she immediately faked a smile, jay hated seeing her like this since he knew she was dealing with it on her own.
"Domestic abuse case, victims being treated in med. Her condition is unknown, husbands name is Gary Torres but he's in the wind, he fled from the house after abusing her last night" Hank explained today's case. Lily didn't even look fazed, she had no life in her eyes and jay knew from that point on, Alex did hurt her, she was just covering up for him. He watched her sit back down at her desk, it pained him to see her fighting battles she was concealing deep down. "Olinsky, halstead stop by med and check on the victim. See if she's up for talking" Hank ordered them before the partners done as he said.
As they arrived at med Will greeted them, he looked at Ivy and he too noticed the lack of emotion in her eyes. "Shes awake, only talking to females..." Will said knowing why they were there. Ivy done as she did last time and went to talk to the lady alone, "hi ma'am in detective halstead but you can call me lily, can I?" She introduced herself while pointing to a chair. The woman smiled at her and let her sit down. "Firstly I just want to let you know that you can get past this, you're stronger than you know" lily said while holding her hand. The woman looked used to it and smiled, "do you have any idea where your husband might have gone?" Lily said while getting out her pen and notepad. The woman nodded which shocked lily, usually domestic abuse victims would want to keep quiet but she seemed eager to escape. "His mothers house, he always used to go there when he done something he regretted" she said seriously. "That's good, you're doing great. Have you got her address?" She questioned. The woman nodded and grabbed her purse, she handed lily an address that was written on a piece of card, "if he's not there, he'll be at some bar" she said while rolling her eyes.
Lily was impressed at her bravery, it made her realise that she should tell Jay and Will the truth. That's what was on her mind. "You've helped us so much already, I'll be back when we've caught him. Hang tight" she said while getting up to leave. She joined al outside of the treatment room but she gestured for him to follow her out immediately. "We've got two possible locations, his mothers house or any bar around this area" she said to her partner as they got into the car and sped off back to the district.
The bullpen was silent until lily interrupted them, "we've got a hit, the victim gave us two possibilities. His mothers house which is our first and most likely option, or any bar in this area" she explained. Hank nodded and ordered them to get into their gear, "suit up". Jay noticed the life had appeared back in her eyes, he wondered what triggered it but he kept quiet until they could talk in private.
The partners all took their own cars and rolled up to the first address, the boys took the front and busted the door down. "Chicago PD" jay shouted as he knocked down the door. The girls covered the back since if he was there he'd probably try and run.
The boys searched the house but before they could clear it they saw movement in the kitchen and before they could stop Gary, he was out of the back door. "Chicago PD" hailey shouted as the man jumped down the steps. Kim blocked the exit while Vanessa backed lily up as she tackled him to the floor. Once lily had cuffed him she dragged him up and threw him to jay, he could tell she was angry but he understood. Jay took the man and threw him in the back of a squad car.
Once they had caught Gary and he was in lock up, olinksy and lily went back to med to let the woman know, lily walked into her room with a half smile on her face. "We got him, he's never gonna touch you again. I promise" lily said while sitting down and grabbing the victims hand. She smiled and let a happy tear fall from her face, "you know, you're the first officer that's ever actually cared about my case..." she admitted. Lily's heart warmed up knowing she had made her day, "I know how you feel, it's awful and I wouldn't want you to go back home knowing he could hurt you again..." she admitted. The victim looked up in shock, "you've been through it too?" She said with a shaky voice. "Yeah I have, not so long ago actually. I got away but I'm not out of the blue yet. So I'm glad I could help you" she bravely confessed. The victim pulled lily into a hug and she held her for a moment before lily excused herself. "I've gotta go finish up the paper work, i wish you all the best for your future" lily said while smiling.
Al and lily made their way back to the bullpen and signed off the last bits of paper work they had to do, Lily's mind was preoccupied. She was figuring out how to tell Jay and Will what Alex had done, she was interrupted by jay waving his hand in front of her face, "lily? Helloooooooo?" Jay said probably for the fifth time. She snapped out of her head and looked at jay, "oh yeah sorry, I'll go get my stuff" she said shaking herself off. Jay realised she was thinking about something pretty heavy but he waited until they got him to question her, "is Will coming over?" She said breaking the silence in the car. Jay shrugged his shoulders, "I can ask him to..." he said as he pulled into the complex's parking lot. Lily nodded and they made their way into jays place, she immediately got a shower then walked into her room. While she was in there she heard will come through the front door, "you need me?" She heard him say to jay. "I don't, lily does..." she heard jay answer. She could hear them getting beers out from the fridge, she decidedly that she didn't know how to tell them so instead she placed on some Nike pro shorts and an oversized hoodie, she wanted to let her bruises do the talking.
