The Truth Can Sting

Part 19

                 Jay knew something was seriously wrong but he didn't know what to do, he ran back to his room and grabbed his phone then ran back to lily.  He dialled wills number hoping he would pick up since an ambulance would take too long.

                 Will was fast asleep next to Natalie when his phone rang and woke the pair up, "god what time is it?" Nat said while rubbing her eyes.  Will sat up and grabbed his phone, "2:30am..." he sighed.  He looked at who was calling to see his brothers name which was weird.  "It's jay..." he told Natalie before picking up the call.

               "Come on Will" jay said to himself while holding lily since she was shaking even more and getting hotter.  After a few rings he finally answered the call.
Will: "jay? It's 2:30..."
Jay: "I know and I'm sorry, but it's lily. There's something wrong with her..."
Will: "what do you mean wrong with her?"
Jay: "I don't know she woke up screaming and now she's shaking like mad, she's burning up too..."
Will: "I'm on my way, hang on"
Jay: "hurry..."

              "What's going on?" Nat said to Will since he was putting on his jeans in the middle of the night.  Will looked at her in panic, "it's lily, somethings wrong" he briefly explained.  He continued to get changed and Nat got out of bed, she was staying with Owen since he would need someone to look after him but she followed him downstairs.  "Call if you need me" she said as Will ran out of the door.

            "Lily?" Jay said in worry.  She was screwing up her face in pain, shaking like there was no tomorrow, burning up and now turning as white as Casper the ghost.  Jay didn't know what do do other than hold her and wait for Will, "oh god lil" jay said while feeling sorry for her.

             About 10 minutes later Will barged through jays apartment door, "in her room!" Jay shouted out, Will ran towards her room and saw lily laying in her bed looking really unwell.  "What happened?" Will said while checking her temperature and pulse.  "She had a nightmare and then this happened..." jay said while shaking his head feeling just as confused as Will was.  Will grew wide with concern, "we need to get her to med now, I'll drive" Will said as he grabbed his keys from his pocket.  Jay nodded and picked lily up, the brothers ran downstairs after locking jays door. 

              Will hopped in the drivers seat and jay got in the back so he could lay lily down on his knees.  "Keep her awake" Will said while trying to avoid all traffic.  Jay looked at her, a few tears were rolling down her face and she was red hot, not to mention the uncontrollable shaking.  "Come on lil, hold on" jay said while wiping the tears away from her eyes. 

             Will arrived at med in no time and he opened the back door so jay could carry her out.  They ran into the ER and called for Maggie, "Maggie we need a room now!" Will said as jay stood behind him holding an ill lily in his arms.  Maggie nodded, "treatment 3" she said and the brothers ran over to the room.  Dr Rhodes took over since Will was in no for state to treat her and checked her vitals.  "I'm gonna have to sedate her, I can't get the IV line in" Connor said while trying to insert the needle into her shaking arm.  Will nodded sadly and grabbed out the sedatives before sticking it into her arm muscle. 

               Jay watched from the corner of the room in fear as he watched his baby sister being knocked out.  It took a few seconds for the anaesthesia to kick in but she eventually stopped shaking and fell asleep so Conner placed the IV line into her vein.  "Let's get her up for a CT and MRI scan now" Connor said to dorris who was assisting him.  She nodded and pushed the gurney out of the room and into the elevator.  Jay and Will followed them and when they got to the radiology floor, they waited outside.

About half an hour flew by and Connor walked out of the room, "she's okay, she's gonna be fine" he reassured them. The brothers sighed and relaxed a bit, "what happened?" Jay asked worriedly. Connor flashed him a weak smile, "something must've triggered her ptsd, she was in a state of shock. Her mind couldn't tell apart the difference from her trauma to reality so whatever she was thinking of felt pretty real to her" Connor broke the sad news. "What so she experienced it again?" Jay said clearing up his shock. Connor nodded and frowned, "she's still out but you can go see her" he said before returning to the ER.

The two brothers walked into her room and sat down by her side, "so she isn't doing okay..." jay said with his head down. Will frowned, "you know she likes to keep herself to herself, you did all you could. We all did, she's just gotta figure it out..." Will spoke the truth. Jay nodded and grabbed her hand, she felt so cold compared to before. She was asleep for around 1 hour before she woke up with a pounding head ache, "what happened?" She mumbled which made her brothers get up. Will went to get Connor and jay stood by her side, "you had another nightmare, this one was just worse" he summed up. She frowned, "it felt so real" she said while remembering everything.

Connor appeared in her room again to check her stats, "you're looking up to scratch, I'm still gonna page dr Charles and get him to see if we can ease the nightmares a bit" he said before leaving again. Lily looked down in sadness she felt hopeless like none of this would ever end, jay and Will also looked sad knowing they couldn't do much to help. "Hey lily, sorry to see you back. How are you feeling?" dr Charles said happily as he walked into her room. Lily didn't know how to respond, the happiness she felt with gallo yesterday had left her completely; she now felt hopeless and alone. She shook her head in confusion and sadness, "that's okay, we can talk it out if you want to" dr Charles said calmly. Jay and Will looked at each other in sadness, "we'll let you two talk privately" jay said as the two brothers left them alone.
