Although we have only been back in West Victoria one full day it already feels like we have been here forever yet it's been so little time. Meeting Maiya, hearing about Ash's exciting news and seeing the strange bay out in the large beautiful flower field by Maiyas Ranch.
Today is the second day back and I wake feeling refreshed and comfy. I walk over to my closet and remember once again that my clothes are all still in bags. I still hadn't put them away into the closet. I pick out a plain yellow hoodie and brown johdpurs with a plain blue shirt. Wandering over to my window I see my reflection in my mirror and jump. What a mess. I go to bed everyday with silky soft hair and wake up looking like a horse has trampled it. I hear my phone buzz across the room and once I finished my hair check it out. Maiya had sent me a photo of Donovan being covered head to toe with mud with the caption: Guess who got their shoe off last night. I send a laughing emoji back and get changed. Closing my bedroom door I make sure there is no note on it again. Nothing. I guess that's a good thing.
I walk into the kitchen to find mum and Braden talking over blueprints for a design for the inside of the new indoor arena. I peer over their shoulders and look at all the intricate designs and taller wooden beams.
"Why don't you add in a beam going across the side of the wall for stability?"They jump at my voice, obviously they hadn't heard me come in.
"Why yes that would be a great addition to the design!Thank you Courtney!"Mum smiles and scribbles my idea in. I walk over to the kitchen window and grab some apples from the basket. Looking out I can see that both Mouse and Ruby are staring dead straight at the forest. This image stays in my head with confusion as I shove my boots on and walk out if the house.I walk up to the stable doors and unlock the padlock bolting it shut. Stepping in a smell a strong fresh, flowery stench. I turn around to switch on the light. The light revealed muddy hoof prints a plenty of wild flowers scattered among the floor. I noticed that the mess was most noticeable Infront of Battens stall. I peer over and see him sleeping layed on his straw bed. I take a picture to send to Maiya showing how cute he looks asleep. I think he sensed my presence and woke up looking up at me. I grab tools and begin mucking out the horses stalls . Then once I had finished them I collected up any salvageable flowers to take over to the field I saw yesterday to see if they match. I refill the waters and sweep up the remaining flowers and scrub the dry mud off the floor before heading out into Ruby's pasture.
I stop in my tracks looking at a broken tipped water through spilling out into the ground. I suspect ruby or Mouse had tripped over it knocking it over and snapping the plastic . I had to remove it when I saw the post next to the tipped trough had been snapped and pushed over. I am surprised I hadn't noticed from the kitchen window. I grab Mouse and Rubies headcollars and leadropes before moving the girls into Butter and Caramels pasture.
I grab my grooming brushes from my tack room along with Galas tack which I place on her stall door while I begin grooming her. I tie some of the flowers into her mane which I style into a running braid. Whilst I tack her up I see a bird fly over Ruby's head and watch her watch it fly around. I aim to ride her over to the flower field again . We walk out into the trail and begin our adventure. We walk through the forest, trot through a small, shallow river then gallop through the fields before cantering past Maiyas house. I stop Infront of the fields and dismount I walk in deeper before kneeling down and compare the flowers. Yes, they are the same . No question. I take my phone out to text Maiya if she had any loose horses that could have escaped through the flower field and found itself Infront of Battens stall. I hear a whinny and yell,
"I'm coming Gala!" I stand up suddenly and I come face to face with a tall, bay, mare.
