After the Jones kids had left, the Marauders wanted to know why. They couldn't just be gone. They tried to ask other students but none knew where they were. They tried McGonagall but even she didn't know.
"I'm sorry boys, I don't know. I was only told they wouldn't return." Was her only response. This made the boys extremely confused, curious, and for two of them nervous. What if the two people they loved had died and that's why the others were gone. Had they caused their deaths? The two would now have to live their lives wondering because the only people who could answer their questions were gone.
Life continued for the four. They went into their seventh year. James and Lily came out as a couple, and while his friends were happy for him it brought sadness out of all of them. And for a while it seemed like things would be okay, but good things never last. The Dark Lord was on the rise, and the four boys were ready to fight. So the second they each turned of age they joined Dumbledore's secret society known as the Order of the Phoenix. Eventually, they all basically forgot about the six siblings they once called friends, life got too crazy to think about them.
James and Lily got married, it was a small ceremony but it was just as beautiful. Everyone was as happy as they could be, but things only seemed to go even further downhill.
There was a prophecy, a boy born at the end of July would be the one to stop the Dark Lord. James and Lily were sent into hiding with a secret-keeper. But what happens when the secret-keeper has secrets of their own?

It was the night of October 31, 1981. It was a fateful night, to say the least. There they were, James with his beautiful wife and son. In their house, enjoying life hiding, but one can't hide forever.
He came into the house, looking for the one who would one day be the reason he loses. He couldn't let that happen, he wasn't a loser. He was on a mission, one where no one survives. Of course, he doesn't anticipate the wild card, no one ever does. So as he went to attack James, there was a burst of lighting blue smoke and then it was gone. James fell, seemingly lifeless, Lily screamed and ran to her son. As the cloaked figure shot his wand towards her, the smoke came back but this time it was deep teal. Still, Lily fell screaming. That just left the figure with little Harry James Potter, he stuck at the one year old, this time no smoke, but Harry didn't fall. Instead, the figure did, well sort of.
"James!" Sirius screamed through the mirror, but all he got was the image of his lifeless best friend. He didn't just stand around, in less than a minute he apparated to the Potter residence to see the worst sight he could imagine, he didn't think he just ran. He knew who was responsible for this, and they wouldn't get away with it, not if he had a say.
There he was, waiting, Peter Pettigrew.
"You!" Sirius pointed his wand, "How could you do this!" Sirius didn't even get the chance to fire a spell, Peter jumped the gun. In a matter of seconds, Peter was gone, twelve muggles surrounded Sirius, dead. How did this happen? Ministry officials were quick on the scene, where they saw a young Sirius, looking around, wand in hand. Guilty!
Here's what Sirius didn't know, James and Lily were in fact not as dead as everyone thought. When they awoke they were in the St. Mungo's, both extremely frantic before being told that they were all okay and alive. It wasn't until later did they were, in fact, not all okay.
In their hospital room stool Remus, holding Harry, and Dumbledore.
"Sirius has been sentenced to life in Azkaban." Dumbledore informed solemnly.
"But it wasn't him, Peter was the secret keeper!" James insisted.
"That may be the case, but Peter along with twelve were murdered by Sirius." This made all three of his former students snap their head up at him.
"He would never!" Remus tried to reassure.
"I'm sorry," was all he said before walking out.
"How did this happen?" Lily asked. The two men just looked at her and shook their heads, they didn't know either. Had their friend for the last ten years really betray them, and more importantly their son, to the Dark Lord? Had Sirius actually turned into what he feared, a muggle murderer? Those questions plagued their minds, but the biggest one was, how had they missed the signs? Did they even know their friends or had they been lying to them the whole time? While they focused on these questions they missed the most important one. How did they survive the Dark Lord?
