I sighed as I looked out the passengers side window of my dad's old musty car. He cut the ignition and I heard him sniffle. I felt tears sting my eyes but I quickly wiped them away.
"You know... The last time I was this sad, was the day of your moms funeral." He said with a slightly joking tone in attempt to lighen the mood.
"I know," I looked over at him finally "me too." He smiled a half broken smile at me and I saw tears fall down his face.
"I'm gonna miss having you around bud." He said before pulling me into a tight hug. I hugged him back even tighter and felt myself begin to lose my grip on my emotions. "Please don't cry. If this is the last time I'm gonna see you for a while I don't want you to be sad. I want your smiling face to be the last thing I see." I pulled away from him and he handed me a tissue.
"Okay..." I said soflty before forcing a smile onto my face. He smiled back and put his hand on my shoulder.
"You're gonna be a legend in that college. Even in the city. Soon, everone will know Kurt Hummel. I know it. You're gonna be something great."
