Chapter Four

After Whitebeard declared his daughter Y/N would join his crew only on one condition. She would have to be able to beat one of the Divison Commanders of the Whitbeard Pirates. Since Y/N was a devil fruit user, Whitebeard requested one of the devil fruit users on the ship would train her. The one who was going to train Newgate Y/N would be the one and only, Portgas D. Ace. Y/N was not very fond of the young man. Ace knew she didn't like him, but that attracted him even more to the petite girl. Boy this was going to be a fun month.

"Psst, Y/N. Wake up!" Ace loudly whispered at the sleeping girl

No response.

"Well I didn't wanna have to do this. Especially on our first day of training, but you leave me no other choice, Y/N," Ace sighed

Using his devil fruit, Ace lit up his index finger, and then touched the sleeping girl before him. Y/N shot up instantly and screamed. Luckily she had a room of her own, so she did not wake up anyone else on the ship. The sleeping beast instanly looked to her left to find a laughing, Ace. When Ace finally composed himself, he suddenly felt that blood lust of an aura this woman gave off when she used her devil fruit powers. Her room was pitch black, but her glowing teal eyes instantly lit up the room. Once again, Y/N was found right beside Ace's ear in an instant.

"If you EVER wake me up again, I will make your life a living hell, Portgas." Y/N said

With that being said, the room went back to being pitch black, and Y/N's scary aura was gone. Ace used his devil fruit power to light up the room and locate the girl. Y/N was sitting on the ned of her bed already dressed, and brushing her hair.

"Y/N, what type of devil fruit did you eat?" Ace asked the girl

Y/N sighed "I ate a logia type of devil fruit known as the Aqua Aqua fruit. The Aqua Aqua fruit allows me to control water, and rain," Y/N said

"How did you find a logia?" Ace asked

"I wasn't the one who found it. My mother did." Y/N said her voice sinking at the end

"Where did your moth-"

"Ace! Stop trying to butt into my life! You don't need to know everything about me. We are only training partners, not besties. And to be quite frank, I don't like you!" Y/N shouted

Ace was shocked at the girls sudden bluntness and attitude. Y/N then got up and left the room, leaving Ace all alone. Why did she act that way?

10 hours later

"Ace I thought you were supposed to be training Y/N by now?" Marco asked the freckled face man

"We got in an argument earlier, I haven't seen her since," Ace said

"God, you guys aren't even a couple and your already fighting as if you were one!" Marco said laughing

Ace pouted at Marcos comment. For some reason he felt like he was in the dog house with Y/N, and hated it.

"If it helps, I saw her a going into a tea house 10 minutes ago," Marco said

Ace got up as soon as the pineapple head said that, and hopped of the Moby Dick. There was only one tea house in town which made it easier for Ace to find. Ace had finally found the tea house Marco was talking about after he had passed it about five times, then asked for help from two girls, who gladly led him the way while fawning over him. Ace was greeted with the strong smell of green tea and a hint of dango. Y/N was sitting at the counter sipping on a green tea, munching on her muffin, and reading a book. It was only Y/N in there which made it nice and quiet for heer to read. Ace walked up the counter, and sat down right beside the female. Y/N didn't notice Ace due to her being so lost in her book. Ace finally spoke up, but instead of a direct conversation to Y/N he made his order to the lady who just came out from the back, and asked for his order.

"Hello, I would like a green tea, and a slice of your meat cassarol pie," Ace said to the woman as she wrote down his order.

"What are you doing here, Ace?" Y/N asked him while sipping on her tea.

"Well, I thought I would come and apologize to you, Y/N," Ace said "I shouldn't have pryed into your life. And, your right we aren't besties. We are just two polar opposites. So, I shouldn't act like I know you." Ace said seriously

Y/N was shocked. She was sure Ace wouldn't be the one apologizing, but why did he? What did he want from her? People that suck up to you always want something. Y/N grew up that way. So, what did he want?

"Ace," Y/N said and sighed "I-I'm sorry about earlier. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I just don't like talking about my mother... and for a complete stranger to ask me about my mother," Y/N said

Silence then filled the room. Ace was taking in what Y/N just said. While Y/N was preparing herself to tell Ace the truth about her mother.

"You wanted to know about my mother earlier..." Y/N said "My mother was a very kind hearted women. When Dad sent us here, so we wouldn't get hurt as he became more wanted, she was always with me. Mom was the one who had the Aqua Aqua devil fruit before me. One day a group of pirates showed up in town. Mom was the only one who stood a chance against them because of her devil fruit. The fight felt like it lasted an enternity until it was over. Mom-Mom was the one who won, or so we thought. The captain of ship suprising stabbed her from behind as she was walking away from his body. She could've focused water to that part of her body, but she was off guard. Once Mom died, I had read somewhere once a devil fruit user dies, their devil fruit pops us again, but somewhere around the world. So, I had adventured off into the forest on the outskirts of town, and found the devil fruit. I wasn't planning on finding it there, but I did," Y/N finished

"I'm sorry about your mother, Y/N. If I would've known I wouldn't have asked you," Ace said

Tears fell from Y/N's eyes as she silently sobbed. Ace felt bad and wanted to comfort her, but he didn't know how to deal with a crying woman.

"Uhh, It's going to be okay, Y/N! Please stop crying!" Ace said while sweatdropping

Ace decided to give her a hug since his words obviously weren't doing anything for her. His arms went around her waist, and his head went on top of hers. Ace's arms felt so comforting and warm, Y/N never wanted him to let go. Y/N took in Ace's sent. He smelt like burnt wood, and roses. It wasn't the mix that came to mind, but it was really comforting. Y/N finally realized what he was doing, and knocked Ace to the floor.

"W-What the hell were you doing, Pervert?!" Y/N said blushing

"What the hell, Y/N. i though we were having a moment!" Ace said rubbing the back of his head, still on the floor.

"Whatever. I'll see you tomorrow morning. This time, I'll wake up myself." Y/N stated, reffering to earlier

Ace gulped, but nodded. y/N then payed and left, leaving Ace still on the floor. Marco had to come and rescue Ace off the floor because Y/N really slammed his back hard against the floor.

"The first day you two are supposed to be training together, and she whoops your ass? Might as well make her a member now considering she beat a Divison Commander," Marco said laughing

"Shut up ya pineapple head!" Ace said

"Remeber who's carrying you back to the ship, Ace. I can drop you at anytime you know," Marco said

"No you wouldn't, Pineapple head," Ace said, mocking his savior

Marco then dropped the crippled Ace to the floor.

"Oh really, Fire fist?" I think I just did

"I really do hate you, Marco" Ace said in pain

Marco then picked Ace up again and walked towards the dock. The two of them using their devil fruit powers to burn each other the whole way there.
