"Dad? Are you in here?" Y/N asked the darkness
Once Y/N blinked. There he was. Her father. The man she hadn't seen in 18 years. The light from the hallway reflected on Whitebeards face. Y/N had almost forgotten how tall her father was in person compared to her. For three minutes they just stared at each other. Amazed to seen one aand another after so long. Tears started flowing from Y/N's eyes. It had been so long since she had seen her precious father, even though they would write each other every month it wasn't the same as seeing him.
"Y/N, why are you here, dear?" Whitebeard asked his petite daughter standing before him.
"I'm here because I want to join your crew," Y/N said "I don't care if you say no, or that I should just go back to Lady Marimba because I won't! I want to be with my father. Writing you letters is nice, and I love it, but I just want to be with you in person, dad!" Y/N said tears falling down her rosey cheeks
"Y/N, I'll let you join but, only on one condition," Whitebeard said "I will give you one month here on this island to improve your devil fruit powers. If you cannot beat one of the Divison Commanders of my choice, you will not be apart of my crew. Since we all have very high bountys, we cannot have a weakling join us. I will assign one of my men to help train you since there is one who also uses devil fruit powers," Whitebeard finished
"Deal. I want to be as strong as one of your Divison Commanders, so you guys will not have to worry about me!" Y/N said living up to her fathers expectations
"Y/N, you're just like your mother in so many ways," Whitebeard said smiling
"I-I don't want to think about her right now." Y/N said, and with that the conversation was over
How could he just bring mom up so suddenly? Did he not know how much pain it caused her when her mother was mentioned? It was a subject that Y/N did not want to talk about with anyone. Not even her own father.
Whitebeard and Y/N walked up the stairs to the rest of the drunk crew having fun. The crew had finally realized there was a women on their ship, and started whistling and clapping. This would not slide so easily with Whitebeard, especially if it was his daughter they were whistling at. He glared at all of his crew, and they all stopped and gulped. It was very rare Whitebeard would glare at his crew like this, but when he did, the whole crew was scared.
"Everyone! This woman here is my daughter, Newgate Y/N!" Whitebeard announced
Everyone's mouths were hanging down once 'Daughter' came out of his mouth. Whitebeard had never mentioned anything about having a family nor a daughter.
"Y/N will be joining us, but only on one condition. Since she is a devil fruit user she will need to become stronger. She has once month to do so. Once she is ready, she will go up against one of the Divison Commanders. If she can beat the selected commander, she will become a Whitebeard pirate,"
"Who's going to be training her?" Vista asked
"One of the devil fruit users on the ship of course," Whitebeard said and laughed at Vista's ridiculous question
"I'll do it," A voice said coming from the back of the ship
A black haired male with a cowboy hat walked to the front. It was him. Y/N hadn't caught his name from the time they had spent together. But, if he wanted to train her, this was going to be an issue. Y/N didn't really like Ace based on the way he had acted.
"Ah, Ace!" Whitebeard exclaimed "You'll be perfect to train Y/N!"
Why did he have to say that? Y/N was about to ask for someone else, but he just had to say that. Now Y/N couldn't object Ace's offer.
"I'll let you two get to know each oth-"
"We know each other already, dad" Y/N said glaring at Ace
Ace was smirking at her response. He had never encountered a woman this feisty before. This was going to be a very exciting month with her. Based on her glare Ace could infer he was disliked by the short H/C girl. But, teasing her was going to be a blast.
