The hot sun was blaring against Tommy's face, beads of sweat running down his cheek as he glared forward to the horizon. He was waiting intently, as they had been for a couple of days now. Tubbo was sitting against the wall as they eagerly waited, fiddling with his thumbs and seeming distracted when he was just nervous as ever. The messenger woman had returned last night, telling them of the letters' safe arrival, in Philza's hands. Now, she was currently tending to her llama within another building, visible through a foggy glass window. Now they just had to wait for Phil. And an achingly long, horribly slow, and humid wait it was. They didn't want to stay in one place too long, so fear was beginning to hitch in each of their hearts, almost as strong and humid as the desert heat.

As the sun began to calm down and afternoon closed in on them Tubbo sighed, looking at the rays of sun slowly turning from a warm glow to a low, darker night color. The sun looked beautiful over the horizon and the feeling of cooler air on them brought great relief. It was still hot, just much, much less.

"We only have enough emeralds for one more night, I hope he shows up tonight.." Tubbo said, fidgeting with their remaining trading funds in hand. The emeralds glinted lightly in the remaining daylight, giving Tubbo a little relief in childlike behavior such as playing with the emeralds.

Tommy nodded in agreeance yet said nothing, closing his eyes and resting against the wall. For about two days they had sat against that wall waiting, taking periodic breaks in the Inn to avoid dying of starvation or thirst yet it was starting to wear on them. His eyes showed flickers of exhaustion and so did his posture. It had been a rough few weeks. As if a sign from the divine suddenly a horse was seen in the distance, and a familiar man in a bucket hat became visible. With a worried look on his face, the horse was stopped short, his wings flapping backward to help the skidding animal. Tommy smiled and quickly ran to greet him.

"What's the letter about Tommy?" He'd say, dismounting his horse and nodding at Tubbo.

"You read it, Wilbur wants us dead or hurt or.. worse, and Techno is with him. I-I need to keep Tubbo safe and don't know how without your help- We've been hearing things? In the forest by our house I..I'm scared."

Philza watched with concern as his son rambled on. He'd eventually pull him into long, tight and loving hug, sighing. How long had it been? Tommy looked so grown, yet at the same time, extremely worn.

"I hear you, you two okay? Not hurt?" He'd examine Tommy and Tubbo, before taking them into the Inn. He got them food, water, and they continued to talk. Tommy and Tubbo were eager to eat, nearly choking with how quick they were.

Philza's concern only grew hearing everything that happened as he was gone. The rise and fall of a nation. Power was in Schlatt's hands, at least for now. God knows what could be going on back at L'manberg, they were far from it.Philza however, just sighed again and took off his hat.

"Listen, we have to go back, because those are my sons, just like you are Tommy. I bet I can talk to them, and we'll see what's going on. Alright? We just need to take it one day at a time." Philza said in a hushed tone. With all he had heard he didn't want to underestimate how many allies Wilbur had. Blow up their nation? What was he, insane? He hadn't seen his son in years but if this is what he and Technoblade were up to, he was going to have to stop it.

Tommy would nod solemnly, looking away and Tubbo had been munching on bread, barely paying attention. Tommy remarked quietly that this is the calmest Tubbo had been, telling stories of the chaotic previous nights living alone. This village was mostly quiet, surprisingly. Not even looted. The sun soon went down and they moved to the bedrooms of the Inn, packing up to go to sleep. They'd fall asleep, Tommy having quite a lot of trouble sleeping as he nervously picked at his arm near all night. In the morning, they all got on their respective horses, rushing back to what was L'manberg. They'd only been gone for at most a week, yet they'd be surprised at the carnage they'd see back at "home"...
