Tubbo blinked awake slowly, letting a tiny yawn slip out. "T-Tommy?" He muttered out weakly, eyes fluttering. Tommy was fast asleep slumped against the skeleton horse with deep pits in his eyes.  How long had he been asleep? It was morning now, but the sun wasn't completely up. Tommy snoozed quietly, knees tucked up to his chest. Upon hearing Tubbo he'd jerk awake, falling off the horse and hitting the grass with a thump.

"f-fuck- what is it?"

"I-I'm sorry! I just wanted to make sure you're okay..."

Tubbo immediately felt bad, sliding  haphazardly off the horse and reaching his hand down to help him get up. Tommy  sat up and rubbed his head, stretching and groaning.

"Yeah yeah- Well... Tubbo- this is where we're going to live."

Tommy would sigh heavily and hesitantly scanning his surroundings before taking out a stone pickaxe, trudging towards the side of the mountain with a bit of sleep lag. He was still exhausted, having only slept two or so hours since the horse had stopped. The sun began to glare brightly, beads of sweat forming on Tommy and Tubbo as they went about their day.

"You should get a little more sleep. I can start on it." Tubbo went over and gently took the pickaxe from him, trying to get him to lay back down with a gentle push.

"Bullshit, I'm fine-"

He'd tug his pickaxe back and start on the stone, beginning to make a staircase down to y-11, optimal mining level. Tubbo huffed and took it back again. "Please?" He pouted, trying to pull the pickaxe from Tommy's hands who'd bitterly sneer at him.

"Fuckin- fine. Take it..."

He'd huff and collapse against the stone, sighing and closing his eyes. He was exhausted, it was obvious. His hands were shaking and eyes barely able to stay open. The sun beaming down on him didn't help and he slumped over into the shade.

"You know I have your best intentions in mind Tommy. You need more sleep. I'll be fine, I promise!"

Tubbo grinned confidently and pat his head before getting to work, making the staircase quicker than Tommy could have alone.

Tommy would look at the sunrise and fall asleep with an almost pleasant smile. Tubbo was working for a couple of hours, mining and digging underground. He'd pull out many resources, ores, and more from the mineshaft, placing them in his furnace before sitting next to Tommy, laying his head on his shoulder, and falling asleep with him.

After a few hours they both woke up; it was high noon. Tommy stood and looked at Tubbo, and then around at their surroundings. There was a nice hollow entrance in the cave now, and Tommy went to work chopping down trees. Tubbo went to go rinse his hands off at the lake before scavenging for seeds. He wanted to make a wheat farm for bread, crafting a stone hoe and getting down to work. As Tubbo was out making a farm he swore he heard something rustle in the bushes, but he paid no mind and instead finished up his work and moved back towards their new home.

After a while of chopping down wood Tommy finally stacked it all beside the cave entrance and made a crafting table outside, as well as a chest to store things. He'd then go back to chopping log after log, wiping beats of sweat from his forehead with his arm.

"Hey Tommy, do you mind if I take some wood to make a sword? I left mine in my ender chest, and we don't have one here..."

Tommy would sigh and hand Tubbo his iron sword. He'd then craft himself a stone one, and set off into the cave to build. Tubbo blinked a little in confusion. "Why'd you give me your iron one? I could have made a stone one..."

"Don't make me second guess myself Tubbo-" He'd mutter from the cave as he continued to build. Eventually, he'd come back out, place things in a chest, and remark "I'm going mining-"

Tubbo had made a furnace and was smelting some food, sweet smell of bread baking coupled with the savory scent of steak.

"Are you hungry? I made a steak." Tubbo exclaimed proudly, holding it up to him.

He'd nod and walk over, grabbing some steak and eating it before smiling "Thanks."

Tubbo immediately smiled, seeming very proud of himself. "Do you want some help mining? Or would you rather I do something else?"

He'd have a pang in his heart as he'd remember Wilbur's words and step forward, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "Tubbo, I want you to do what your heart says..." He'd say, and turn back to go mining again. He'd felt so guilty, but he couldn't let his friend get hurt. Tubbo tilted his head a little, noticing the mood change.

"T-Tommy are you okay?" He asked, worried.

Tommy seemed to sway for a second, full of instability. His eyes watered, and soon he gave out.

"..."

his pickaxe would fall to the floor, and so would his knees. He'd start to cry, gritting his teeth "we lost it all...all for you... Those fucking traitors...they..."

Tubbo ran over and engulfed him into a hug, running his hands through Tommy's hair soothingly. "I'm here... Don't worry..."

Tommy would be a shaking mess of crying, images of the war flashing through his mind like gunshots. He could barely hold himself up. He'd been through so much. They'd been through so much. The war, discs... so much bloodshed. He held his dying friend in his arms after watching the one he trusted shoot him. He didn't want to lose Tubbo, he hadn't wanted to lose Wilbur either but he was gone now.  All that was left was Tubbo, and Tommy had to protect him with his life. He slowly stood, wobbling in Tubbo's arms as he calmed down, sniffling and hugging the boy.

"T-they won't hurt us... n-not while I'm here, I won't let them.." Tommy squeaked hoarsely as Tubbo dragged him inside, sitting against the cold unfinished floor and hugging him.

'I won't let them..' Tommy repeated in his own head, closing his eyes. Nobody was going to steal his sunshine. Not his Tubbo.

At least that's what he thought..
