Tommy would lift his head, blinking his eyes open sleepily as he turned to the boy next to him. Tubbo would ever so slightly raise his head, hair a mess and eyes wide and alert. He looked like he had just stepped out of crowded underbrush, an almost disheveled mess if he didn't look so cute curled up next to Tommy. The sun was out on full blast, beaming rays of bright radiant light over the water, warming the dock and the face of the cave entrance as the birds happily chirped along. All was serene and beautiful as if stepping right out of a postcard, yet a lingering thick haze of anxiety and fear sat over the boys. They were terrified, yet kept their composure. They believed, at any moment, Technoblade and Dream would come bounding out of the woods to kill them, or worse. Tubbo had barely been able to sleep because of it, anxiously wrapping his arms tighter around Tommy's waist.
"you're up?" Tubbo muttered, ruffling his hand through the blonde's hair. Tommy sleepily blushed ever so slightly, tinges of gentle pink across his cheeks as he smiled widely. Of course, he was only sweet when sleepy, so it wouldn't last long, at least that's what Tubbo knew. Tommy would yawn and stretch, Tubbo sliding off of his chest and gently standing with a discombobulated wobble. He'd gaze around, brown irises flicking across the vibrant, lively autumn horizon before turning back to lock onto Tommy, feeling the warm sun on his back.
"Tommy, what are we going to do? What if Dream and Techno find us?"
Tommy would eventually groggily stand as well, taking out some bread from his inventory and gently munching on it. Tubbo reached for some, expecting the boy to share but instead Tommy continued to ignorantly eat the bread, not quite keen on sharing this early in the morning with a huff and a grunt.
"well... I don't know. We just have to hope they don't find us. I... have an idea, actually, but I'm not sure it'll be good." He'd tuck his bread away, leaving a few slices left as he walked by Tubbo, passing him a few torches and a spare pickaxe.
"W-what's your plan?"
Tubbo asked with mild concern in his voice, taking the pickaxe and torches quietly. Tommy began to walk now, into the woods off a way to get a tree. They passed by warmly lit saplings growing and even a few animals rustling through the bushes. Soon, Tommy stopped at a small lake, grabbing sugarcane with his free hand and stuffing it into his pocket. Then, he'd take some flowers from nearby and also shove those into his pocket. Tubbo watched, inching closer to Tommy as he tried to clutch to his arm. He'd been anxious since Wilbur lashed out, especially considering Wilbur wanted his head.
As they made it back to the cave Tubbo quickly scurried inside, placing a few flower pots and lanterns around as Tommy rustled around in a chest for a bit. Soon, he had red and yellow dye, leather, ink sacs, and a feather. He quickly crafted a book and quill. Tubbo tilted his head and grabbed onto Tommy's arm, which instead of yanking away instead let him clutch.
"what's that for, Tommy?"
"well, Tubbo, just going to be ringing an old friend." The male would write in the book and Tubbo glanced over his shoulder, watching him write the letter and reading it out in his head.
"Dear Philza,
We need you to travel down here with us. Wilbur has gone mad and plans to destroy everything we care about, including Tubbo. I'll give more details when you're here.
Please,
TommyInnit"
Tubbo would narrow his eyes. He knew what this meant, to deliver that letter they'd have to travel to a village. A real village. Tommy looked at Tubbo and sighed.
"It's worth it, he'll come to help us, we've known each other for years" (For context, L'manberg spans over multiple years, and therefore both Tubbo and Tommy are over 18 years old, and they all live inside the Minecraft universe.) With that, Tommy would sign the book and shut it, tucking it into his inventory and walking outside again. At this point, it was approaching nightfall, the chirp of distant crickets making their way through the forest as the duo sat on the dock.
"Tomorrow we'll head to a village.." Tommy said, staring off at the pearl white moon rising. Tubbo leaned against him and held his arm again. He wanted to get closer yet.. knew he wasn't ready yet.
"Tommy.?" Tubbo would chirp up, turning his head to look at Tommy as he laid his chin on his arm.
"Yeah?"
"I don't feel good.. I.. have a bad feeling about this. Like.. someone's watching us."
Fear would course through Tommy like a silver bullet and he'd quickly glance around, immediately consumed by anxiety. He'd notice the same fear in Tubbo's eyes as they scooted closer to the edge of the dock as a collective.
"I'm gonna be honest with you, I felt it too.."
He sighs shakily and stands, lifting Tubbo with him. Suddenly and quickly he'd slide off his shirt, tossing it on the dock and taking a diving leap into the water. As he sunk into the water he swam up, gently paddling back to the surface as the quiet trickle calmed him. Tubbo watched with awe and a light blush as he followed suit, removing his shirt and taking a leap into the water, causing Tommy to chuckle. He'd playfully splash at Tubbo, grinning. Fears melted away as the two played in the water, a warm summer night falling upon them as they kicked and swam through the water.
Yet off in the bushes Tubbo swore he heard a rustle...
