Main POV

"A call?" The Captain repeated frowning at the lieutenant next to him.

"Yes, Captain. From a Nora."

"Someone close then, if it was to his private phone."

"Hm. Yeah"

"Hopefully our dudes didn't answer the call?"

"Course not"

One of the lieutenants, who was paging the MPD teams doing the White House investigations, had received an update about the late Senator's phone activating for a call.

"If they call again, allow the boys to answer it"

"Yes, sir." The lieutenant inserted the information to the pager.

"You were saying, Phil?" Captain said, transferring his attention to the Director. The grave and concerned face of the Director that appeared a while ago was still present. The conversation they had been having had resulted it and now it was clear that it won't budge for a while.

Another sigh escaped the Director.

A common incident today.

"You do know that the strongest hearts also get tired at a time right, Roger?"

The Captain held his gaze on his friend for a moment. From the short period spent at the CIA, the Captain had come in to the solid conclusion that the Director's manner of thinking had taken a massive twist.

"Thank you for the reminder, Phil" Captain replied, to go with the flow and to accept the Director's attitude shift. Puckering his lips, the Director raised his brows as he looked at the Captain.

"Have you ever tried to console someone like that?"

It was as if the Captain had the answer right at the tip of his tongue.

But from a moment's consideration, he decided against dropping the words.

He was on the verge of saying 'Course I do, if you had the full beer, might have made things bit light.'

"Not really..." He said instead in a sheepish tone.

"You sure, Roger? You never had to console yourself?"

The unexpected irony.

Even the MPD lieutenants who were engrossed in their electronic devices perked up at this. The DD who was sat opposite to the Captain flashed a sympathetic smile as he looked up from some files he was poring over. At this unexpected sentence which was camouflaging a compliment, Captain's face had visibly slackened. He had a disbelieving stare on the Director who wore a curious look.

Without missing a beat to keep up the professional air, the Captain reacted verbally. "Of course I've done that but... my perspective of myself seem to be extremely different from yours."

"My perspective on you was actually different till today." The Director said, considering the cheery mood the Captain always held, specially today where he himself was trying to find a positive light to at least smile about.
