You woke up at 9am on Saturday. Tsukishima was coming over at 12, and the anticipation made you nervous. You showered and got ready for the day, but froze in indecision as you looked in your closet for something to wear.
It doesn't really matter what I wear you thought to yourself. Yet part of you wanted to look nice, or at least presentable. Tsukishima never really saw you wear anything besides your school uniform or the tracksuit you wore during volleyball practice. After a lot of failed outfits, you settled on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt of your favorite band. Nicer than sweatpants, but it wouldn't raise any suspicions of why you were dressing up. You looked back at the clock, and it was only 10:30.
You went downstairs into the living room, where Suga was sitting watching some volleyball anime that he really liked.
"Hey, (F/N)! You're up earlier than usual for the weekend," he commented.
"Good morning, Koshi! Yeah, Tsukishima is coming for a project at noon, so I wanted to make sure I had time to get ready and make sure we had everything we needed," you responded.
"Tsukishima is coming over?" he asked with a sly smile.
"Yeah," you responded, "I told Aunt and Uncle and they were okay with it, is there a problem?"
"No at all!" he responded, "but I might be going over to Asahi's, so you two will be here alone."
"Oh... I thought you were going to be here all day?" you asked, remembering that your Aunt had mentioned that Koshi would be home, even though they would be out for the day.
"Last minute plans," he replied with a chuckle, "you two will be fine... alone, right?"
"Of course," you responded, not understanding the problem.
"By they way, what is going on with you and Tsukishima?" he asked, finally realizing you weren't catching on to his subtle hints.
"I... uh... what do you mean?" you said, a blush quickly creeping up to your cheeks.
"Well, I don't know. he seems to act differently around you, and you always seem to be talking to him... or watching him."
"I don't watch him anymore than I watch any of the other players," you responded, knowing that that wasn't true. You just always got mesmerized by the way Tsukishima played and how he analyzed the court and how uninterested he seemed despite his obvious talent.
"Whatever you say," he said in a sing song voice, "Just don't get into any trouble while I'm gone."
Not much later, he left the house, leaving you alone to wait for Tsukishima. It was still only 11:00. Why did time pass so damn slowly? And why did you want to see him so damn much?
You went to the kitchen, sorting out the items you would need for the recipe. Strawberries, flour, sugar, you organized it all, making sure you had enough. And it's a good thing you did, too, because you realized you didn't have any baking powder, which would be important for the shortcake part of strawberry shortcake. There was less than an hour until Tsukishima would get to your house. You didn't know if you'd be able to get to the store and back before noon, so you decided to call him and let him know the issue. You had traded phone numbers for the project.
He answered on the first ring.
(L/N)? Why are you calling? I'm not late.
I- I know. I just- we don't have any baking powder. I might need to go to the store.
Oh, alright. Lets go now, I'm already outside your house.
With that, he hung up the phone. You checked the clock. 11:15. Why was he already here? You opened the door, and sure enough, there he was, standing on the doorstep.
