The neon blue portal reopened, Renjun and Jia getting out quickly. Stepping out, they found themselves at the middle of the labyrinth."Where is everyone?" Jia asked. "In different parts of the labyrinth. We all have to find our way out." Renjun responded. "So we are just going to wander until we find our way out?" Jia asked. "Essentially. I mean we potentially have to fight off devil dogs or other creatures we come across." Renjun scoffed.
"Lovely." Jia sighed. They began walking in a somewhat uncomfortable awkward silence which Renjun didn't intend on breaking so it was left to Jia to speak up. As they turned the corner, Jia sighed. "So.. does the soulmate thing apply to me now?" She asked.
"Yeah. You have until you are 19 to find them." He answered. "Have you already met yours?" She asked. Renjun thought for a moment. "I'm not sure." He spoke bluntly. "What do you mean?" Jia gave him a look of confusion. "I'm not 100% sure it's them or not." He explained. "Well, what does she look like?" Jia looked up at the taller boy.
Renjun was stuck. He mentally cursed himself but slyly went with the flow. "Black hair, about your height, normally wears hoodies like every day, and has brown eyes." He gave Jia and exact description of herself. He knew she was pretty oblivious to a lot of things so there was no way she would catch that.
"Oh cool. Is she a demon too?" Jia asked. Renjun was unleashing every curse word he knew in his head. "Now she is, she was a fallen. Yknow born in heaven and everything." He explained. He only lied a tad, if he told the truth Jia obviously would have figured it out.
"She sounds amazing." Jia pretty much complimented herself. "She's.. she's the most special girl I've ever met." He spoke. This time, he wasn't lying. Hell, he didn't even know where those words came from. It certainly wasn't the regular mean Renjun speaking.
Jia smiled at his words, but something deep inside of her felt.. jealous? Why was she feeling jealous? It kinda upset her a bit but she didn't know why. She certainly didn't have a crush on Renjun or anything, sure she found him attractive, anyone would be a fool if they didn't.
She pushed away the feeling and decided to just be happy for him, to her it clearly sounded like he liked her a lot. Oh course, Jia never really experienced romantic love before so she wouldn't really know.
After a minute or two of some slightly more comfortable silence, Jia spoke up again. "So, you know a lot about me, tell me about you Mr. Mysterious." She glanced over at him. Renjun took a breath. "There's not really much to know, I was born and raised in hell. I mean I'm also the heir to the throne of hell but that not the most important thing ever." He spoke.
Jias jaw dropped. "Pause- You are underworld royalty and never decided to tell me?" She asked. "I mean it never came up in conversation before." He spoke. "Yeah, I'm going to be king of the underworld in about a year." Renjun explained. Jia could tell he was starting to get more comfortable around her. He started looking more relaxed and a playful tone began to slowly catch in his voice.
Suddenly, their eyes locked and flashed green, taking both of them by surprise.
Renjun was caught off guard and Jia was mainly just confused. They both stared at each other with mouths agape as both of them realized what just happened.
"Did we just- did that just- what-" Jia stuttered. Renjun was speechless, the flash was only supposed to happen when they fully fell for each other, why did it happen now? He knew he didn't have obvious feelings for her and honestly Jia didn't have any clear ones for him either so Renjun was stood dumbstruck in the middle of the path. Jia took a moment to process the information before asking Renjun hesitantly,
"Renjun.. are you my soulmate?"
