A knock was heard on Haewons door, the girl immediately knowing who it was. She opened the door to reveal a smiling Jia, Haewon feeling guilty that she would have to crush her mood and hell, maybe even her soul. "You ready to have a good ass time tonight?" Jia asked excitedly. Haewon shook off the burden she was carrying and decided to live in the moment. That could wait a while. "You already know I am." Haewon smiled back.
Haewon has decided that she was going to tell Jia at the most ironic time she could. 3am, the devils hour. The time was only 7pm, the two just getting done with the third movie they watched. "What do you say we go to the convenience store and stock up for the night?" Haewon suggested, earning a quick nod from Jia. The pair were out of the door and on their way in the cold evening air.
Jia was shivering slightly as the breeze hit her, Haewon on the other hand was completely unfazed. Demons couldn't feel the cold, after all they live in hell so they are always hot. Jia picked up on how Haewon seemingly wasn't cold. "How are you not freezing? It's cold as hell out here." Jia asked, pulling her jacket tighter. "Trust me, hell is anything but cold." Haewon muttered, Jia thankfully not hearing.
"I don't know, I guess I'm immune to the cold." Haewon joked. As they neared the shop, a group of six familiar boy caught their eye. There was another boy in the mix that Jia didn't recognize but Haewon knew exactly who he was. Mark Lee. Jia held her breath in fear as Renjuns eyes fell onto the two.
He could sense her fear from his distance around 100 feet away from her, a smirk coming to his lips. "What's got you looking like that?" Mark threw his arm around renjuns shoulder. "See the girl over there? That's Yang Jia. She's a fallen angel and I'm the first demon she has seen. She didn't even know she was a fallen, I had to tell her. It's a long story honestly. She's terrified of me." He looked over to Mark. "Nice. You going to turn her?" Mark asked as they walked. "Yeah, I'm starting the process next week unless something occurs in that period of time. Haewon there has to reveal to Jia that she is a demon. She's telling her tonight." Renjun answered. "Well how about we speed this little affair up shall we?" Mark asked, his eyes flashing red.
With a wave of his hand, time flew forward, landing at exactly 3am. Haewon found herself back at home, realizing what they did. All the events that had played out in that time frame did happen, it was just as if you hit the fast forward button on a remote. She sighed in frustration, knowing exactly which demon was to blame for the act. Haewon mentally prepared herself before saying fuck it.
The two were sat outside on Haewons balcony, sitting in two plush bean bags with a string of softly glowing fairy lights above them. "Hey Jia, can we talk about something?" She asked. Jia internally panicked and thought of the worst but complied nonetheless. "So you know Renjun right?" She asked, Jia nodding as her heart sped up. "He told me something That something has taken me by full surprise and i need to bring it up with you." Haewon continued. Jias heart was beating practically out of her chest.
"Jia, you are a fallen aren't you?"
And that was the moment where Jias mouth went dry and she couldn't form any words. She knew she was, but she never thought Haewon would find out. "Y-yes." She said quietly. "Okay, now i'm going to show you something but you have to promise not to freak out." Haewon warned. Jia went through with the promise, Haewon taking a deep breath. "I cant believe i'm doing this." She whispered.
Her fangs popped out, wings slowly emerging from her back. The red that took over her eyes flooded into her brown orbs like crashing waves. Haewon held her breath as she looked up. Jias eyes went wider than ever, her jaw dropping and a small gasp emitting from her lips. "Y-you are a... a-" Jia began speechlessly before Haewon finished her sentence.
"Yes Jia, I'm a demon."
"How- can you explain everything that just happened because it kinda feels like a fever dream- oh wow i feel really lightheaded-" Jia clutched her head as she spoke breathlessly. With a snap of her fingers, Haewon spawned a glass of water in front of Jia. Jia let out a small scared yet disbelieving laugh. "There's a story behind the both of us. Just please listen before you lose your shit completely okay?" Haewon said. Jia gulped, nodding as she picked up the glass of water.
"As you know, we have known each other for about fifteen years. So clearly if one of us died, we would know. That's not always how turning into a demon or angel works. Sometimes it can be in the bloodline. Your relatives could be an angel or demon, which would mean that you have angel or demon blood coursing through you. When this happens, you are born in heaven or hell depending on which line you are born into. For example, we were both born in Heaven because we were born with angel blood in us. So we spent most of our lives in heaven. You won't remember this because if you become a fallen or a demon, all your memories get wiped and it's like you have always lived on Earth or in Hell. The angel blood in you also gets extracted so you are in no way angelic." Haewon explained.
"But if we were angels and now you are a demon and i'm a fallen angel, what did we do to get us thrown out of heaven?" Jia asked. Haewon bit her lips as the memories came back to her.
"We were subject to a failed experiment when we were sixteen. It was a test to see how demon blood would react when mixed with angelic blood. What happened was when we were injected with the demonic blood, it began infecting the angelic blood and took us over. They tried their hardest to recover us, to fix what they did, but they couldn't. It was too late. You had passed out from the pain because I can tell you right now it didn't feel good at all. It was the most painful thing I've ever experienced and if you remembered I'm sure you would agree with me. I stayed conscious. Conscious for a demon in heaven meant violent. I killed the doctor. Mauled him completely out of instinct because of how powerful the blood was when it took me over. I was banished immediately, my angel wings ripped from me and my halo snapped. I went straight to hell and became a full demon automatically. You on the other hand, they apprehended you and chained you up. You remember what happened to you, I know Renjun showed you. Except you didn't commit a sin like I did, so you were only sent to Earth." Haewon took a breath.
"So your mortal family isn't really your family. They are a mortal replacement because your real family lives in Heaven. When your memory got wiped, you were given new memories of living on Earth your whole life. With that family. They are like an illusion, knowing you are there but if you leave one day they are wired to forget you completely. I know this is hard for you but Jia we need to turn you into one of us. I cant tell you why right now, but by next week you will understand." Haewon sighed.
It was so much for Jia to take in. All this information coming to her at once.
"So for the last two years, I've been living a lie?" Jia whispered out. Haewon nodded sadly "I wanted to tell you, I really wanted to tell you but I knew I had to wait. I had to wait until you saw a demon first."
The seven boys were lounging around in their shared mansion, everyone sitting on the couch in the living room. Renjun senses something, a force in the air. It took him a moment, but he pointed it out quickly. "You good Renjun?" Chenle asked, the other boys attention diverting to him. A small laugh left his lips as he looked up towards the sky.
"She knows."
