Jia was rather hesitant to go back to school the next day, feeling rather odd after her encounter with Renjun."Yo, Jia, you good?" Haewon , Jias self proclaimed but never denied #1 best friend, nudged the girls arm lightly as they made their way to their third class. "Yeah I'm fine. It's just.." Jia spoke before wondering if she should even ask Haewon about it. "Have you ever seen a demon before?" She asked hesitantly. Haewon seemed to think for a moment before replying, "No I haven't. Humans can't see demons remember? What's wrong did you see one or something? Is that why you look so shaken up today?" She questioned. Jia had an inner battle with herself whether she should tell her or not. She decided against it, not wanting to risk anything.
"No, I just read an article about it this morning. Only Angels and Demons can see other Demons right?" Jia lied before changing the subject. "Yeah, if you are a human that can see demons I highly doubt you are really human." Haewon lightly laughed as they entered the classroom. "Is it even possible to be human if you can see them?" Jia let out a light laugh as well, holding down her nerves at what Haewon just said.
As the two set their bags on their desks beside each other, Jia's eyes scanned the room, her eyes meeting Renjun's who was sat in the back corner with the other five boys who he was normally with. She unknowingly held her breath as his eyes pierced into hers, holding long enough for the girl to be able to see his eyes flash red again. Her eyes widened in inevitable fear, the knowledge that she, a human, could actually see a demon setting in.
The world seemed to stop again as it did last time their eyes locked, the air around her remarkably thin all of a sudden. His eyes shorted out again like the last time he tried reading her, his eyes snapping shut as his demonic abilities were forced down. Even from across the room, she could still see how his fangs popped out. Jia was very scared, as anyone would be, but held the fear down as best she could. Renjun stood up, time freezing completely at this point rather than slowing down, courtesy of his demonic powers. Jia was frozen in fear as she watched him stalk closer and closer towards her.
The two were face to face, Jia sucking in a deep breath and holding it as his eyes bored into her own. As a test, he let his demonic form come out, his eyes changing deep red, his fangs growing to their sharpest state, and of course his pitch black wings that extended out of his back and past his shoulders emerged. The girls pupils dilated, her eyes widening and the smallest whimper of fear left her lips. "Can you see me?" Renjun asked, his voice raspy as he cocked his head slightly with his eyes never leaving hers. She remained silent, not sure if she could even say anything if she wanted to
"Cmon Jia, I asked you a question. You can see me can't you?" A devilish smirk made its way onto his face. Jia snapped herself out of her frozen state, nodding her head at the demon in front of her. "Please don't kill me." She muttered quickly. The boy laughed almost mockingly before the smirk wiped away as fast as it appeared. Her heart was racing as she began backing up which in fact was a terrible idea. Her back hit the wall about a foot behind her, Renjun moving forward with every step back she took.
He slammed his hand on the wall right next to her head, making the girl shrink down in fear. "What are you?" He asked, his facial expression emitting nothing but seriousness. "I-I'm a h-human." Jia responded, her voice shaky. "Bullshit. Humans can't see us. Now I'm going to ask again, what are you?" He snarled. Jia had enough of his attitude, the girl frankly not caring if he was a demon or not, completely disregarding the fact that he could kill her in the blink of an eye. "Listen here dickhead, I told you I am a human! If you don't believe me go fucking ask Satan or something." She snapped at him, the sudden outburst of anger taking Renjun by surprise.
His tongue ran over the bottoms of his teeth, nodding his head at the girl. "I'll do just that, but so help me if I find out you are an angel I will rip your wings out and snap your halo right in half." He hissed, looking the girl up and down briefly before walking back over to his seat in the back and letting time resume.
The bustling noise of the classroom broke through the air, taking Jia by slight surprise. "No it's not. In any sense, there's no way you are human. You have to be either a demon or an angel if you see a demon." Haewon shook her head slightly as she dug her school books out of her bag.
Jia, who was still out of it from what just happened, barely understood what Haewon had just said. Her heart was beating out of her chest. "Yeah, totally." She forced herself to act normal. The bell had rung and the lesson began but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't focus on what her teacher was saying.
The lecture ended rather fast, everyone packing their bags back up so they could get to their next class while Haewon struck up a conversation with Jia. The girls talked for a moment, laughter erupting between the two. As they contained themselves, Jias eyes fell to the back of the room where she saw Renjun talking with the five boys.
He must have felt her gaze, his eyes shifting over and locking with hers. The boy raised a challenging eyebrow at her, the same devilish smirk taking over his face as it did earlier. She watched as he mouthed something to her, the sound coming to her like a phantom. Jia knew it was his demonic powers that brought the words to her, his voice being right by her ear even though he was so far away.
"Watch your back, princess."
