Vall's P.O.V.

When you're stuck in a room with no windows time seems to pass without you knowing. You can't tell night from day. You don't see the sun, the one of the things that no matter where you live everyone sees. I couldn't tell time.

I had no idea how long I had been here.

I would guess maybe a week or two but I'm not sure. But what I did know was that with every passing day my hope dwindled.

Two times a day someone would come in and give me water and some food. I had lost a lot of weight. My body was incredibly weak. I don't think I could lift a phone right now.

I spent most of the day sleeping since there was really nothing else to do.

In a way you could say I would be fine with dying. It was the easy way out.

But whenever I thought of ending it all I couldn't do it. I was stronger than that. I had no one else to live for but it still felt selfish.

I think there's was a fire in all of us. Some peoples burn brighter than others but it's there.

My fire might've been dim but it was there. And it was waiting to be kindled into something bigger.

Sometimes you royally fuck up. But you need to know that one thing doesn't define you.

I have done many bad things but I still stand. Maybe it's just hell rejecting me but I doubt that.

I had one final push left in me and I was waiting for my perfect opening.

I slumped back against the wall.

I jumped in and out of sleep before the door opened.

The cold metal scraped against the dirty floor. My usual guard came in with a tray of food. It wasn't much but it kept me alive.

I drank the water greedily and slowly ate the bread and soup.

When I was done the man took the tray out. He came back soon after though which didn't normally happen.

He instructed me to get up and follow him. I did as I was told, not having enough energy to fight right now.

He led me to a bathroom where I was told to shower before my meeting.

I was confused me got ready regardless.

The warm water left great on my tired bones. It soothed my muscles and relaxed my whole body.

I got out and dressed in the boring clothes they supply me with.

I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes had long since lost their hope. Dull brown orbs stared back at me.

I shook my head to clear my thoughts as I stepped out of the bathroom.

My guard led me down hallways until we came to a set of dark wood French doors.

I suspected it to be Derek's office. It looked professional and scary as hell.

We knocked on the door. There was shuffling on the other side before it opened.

Walking in I saw papers covering a large desk. It didn't look at all organized. Derek sat on the other side of the desk in a business suit. It didn't seem to hide the true monster inside though.

I was sat down in a chair before the guard was instructed to leave us alone.

Being in a room alone with Derek wasn't the problem.
