Malachi's POV
The feeling he got from his son was very different. It was almost dead in a way. He shivered at the thought and feeling it stirred in him. It was like his son had been there but the only thing left was a corpse. Neither of the other links felt like this.
He decided to reach further for Isabella or Roy. The only thing he could feel from Roy was pain. From Isabella, worry for Matthew.
Matthew's POV
My body won't obey me. What the hell did that bastard do to me?! My mind toys with the thoughts of what this meant for myself.
The vampire put his arm around my shoulders, pulling my body along. He smiles at me, "You are doing so well, Matty."
I want to scream at him. No one calls me Matty except for Izzy. I want things to go back to normal.
A image of Izzy played through my mind, my heart flipped. Izzy...
Matty... Izzy's voice played through my mind, perking my ears up at the response.
Izzy, I'm sorry.
The vampire pulled my body into a room. A room that smells like blood. In the center was a chair, struggling to free themself was a kid. A bag over their head so I couldn't tell if it was a girl or boy. The screams stuck with me hours later.
The vampire pushes me forward, I try to catch myself but when you aren't in control of your own body that's kinda hard to do. I fell onto my chest, the breath knocked from me. Slowly my body pulls itself up, snatching the bag off the kid's head. It was a boy. His long brown hair was matted to his scalp with blood, he was crying. His words muffled by the gag.
The sight made my blood boil but there was nothing I could do. My body was not my own anymore. My body punched the boy in the jaw. His head snapped back with a crack. His cries got harder, his chest rose and fell quicker. He was hyperventilating. My body punched him numerous times but I couldn't watch him. I could feel the hits getting harder, stronger.
After a while the boy blacked out, Aldrin pulled my body away from the boy.
The unconscious boy's body jerks against the restraints. The image plays through my mind. Why us? Why did you choose us?! I want to scream in Aldrin's face, demand him to tell me. I know it won't work but I want to try.
I try to turn my head and open my mouth, my body won't obey. Aldrin glances at me, "Matty, what's wrong?"
My body shakes its head in response, I let out a stream of curses at my unresponsive body.
Isabella's POV
The way that Matthew's eyes looked at me made something inside me break. Those dead eyes. They sucked out what made Matty himself.
My throat is raw. I can feel it becoming itchy but it isn't enough to make me stop. I bang on the bars and scream, my voice sounding raw to my own ears, "Matthew! Please Matty!"
The younger vampire glares at me but says nothing. Roy is sitting with the younger kids, his eyes on me. "Isabella, I don't think he's gonna come. No matter how hard you try."
I ignore him and keep up my banging and screaming. A shriek cuts through, I turn to look. Roy's eyes meet mine, he shakes his head.
Adam Levine, the youngest boy, holds his younger sister, Ada, to his chest as he leans his back against the wall. He whispers in her ear, "Ada, we'll be fine. Think of Marie and Mark's oldest brother, Matthew. He'll get us out just like always."
Ada shakes her head but finds comfort in her brother. The boy vampire bangs a cane against the bars, gaining our attention. "Peter McAvoy, Mark Martin, out now."
The kids look at each other, Roy's eyes narrow and he stands, "Sorry bloodsucker but they aren't going anywhere without me or Isabella. "
The vampire shrugs and opens the bar door, "Well get out here already, mongrel."
Roy's eyes flash and he growls softly, Peter and Mark follow close behind the older boy. The other kids crowd around me, I take Charlotte onto my lap and let the other two lean against my side. Adam looks up at me, "Do you think Matthew will come back for us?"
I stroke his hair and don't bother to answer since I'm not even sure myself.
Roy's POV
I latch onto Peter's and Mark's hands and tug them along as I follow the boy vampire. He's dressed in an impeccable white dress shirt and black slacks. His red eyes meet mine, scowling, "Stop checking me out, mongrel. I'm faithful to my species."
I laugh at his words, he turns to me and grabs my neck. Separating me from the boys, he slams my back into the wall. Practically hissing in my face, "All mongrels are retards. I would kill you if Brother wouldn't be mad."
He grabs Mark's hand and pulls him along. I quickly grab Peter's and tug him after me as I try to catch up with the vampire. My eyes wide as I see what he's doing. One cuff around Mark's right wrist, trying to cuff the other. I push him away and stand infront of the two boys. "Don't touch them."
Malachi's POV
I tug on my hair as I sit outside of Annie's cell, she's awake. Watching me, "Just let me go. You'll get them back."
My eyes meet hers, I'm not listening to her words, "I can't. My son. He can protect them. We'll be fine. He can get them out."
I'm rambling, I know it. But the feeling from Matthew's link, makes me restless. In one motion, I yank the door open and grab Annie, my sister. I pull her out and march out of the dungeon to the front lawn. She pulls on my arm, she's screaming.
Her lips are moving, my ears aren't working. He'll be okay. He has to be. He's the next one.
I look up and see a female silhouette with a pixie bob cut. She steps closer, her eyes are red. Her hair is blonde, I think. I can't focus. Her voice is soft and melodic, "Give her to me, Malachi. I'll bring her back and get your young mutts for you. "
I shake my head, trying to concentrate, "I can't. He'll be back. He has too."
The female reaches forward, "It's okay, it's just me. Alice."
My grip on Annie loosens, she pulls away and runs over to Alice. Alice smiles at her as they turn. I watch their receding figures.
Then it hits me...
