Flight
Chapter 7
----
As the stars shone brightly in the sky, they watched the earth from their high platform, making sure nothing would destroy the precious planet they loved. Every month, the world was spun to another set of stars so they could have a turn watching it. These are the constellations you see every night, but the ones who always watch the planet from up north, were the ones who loved it the most.
One pitch black night, on the day of the switching, Orian had refused to watch the planet as he turned his back on the Dippers', no longer willing to care for the world anymore, for he wanted to do more things in the universe than watch a small thing with barely any life on it. They tried to convince him to take the planet, but he would not change his mind, since then Orian had permanently turned his back to the Dippers', and that is what you see in the sky during the winter months.
So to help the earth continue on well and lively, the Little Dipper dropped down on of his stars, watching it fall down to the world, hence why his tail is shorter than the Big Dipper's. The small star landed gently onto a forest floor, a flower with shining gems as petals and a bright purple amethyst for its center grew immediately as soon as it touched the ground. The flower was there to protect the earth if the stars could not get to it in time. No one found this flower for years, as it sat there in a clearing, untouched, shining under the moonlight.
But on a blizzardy night, a small domestic cat found this flower while hunting. His curiosity spiked as he neared the plant, so he sniffed it, his nose lightly touching it. The effects took place immediately as he grew in height tremendously as he became four feet tall and his senses grew stronger and brighter. He saw the world a whole new way, feeling energy ripple through the once starving cat. The days continued on as he tried to walk away from the flower multiple times, but he always came back every day, even when he swore he never was heading in the direction of the plant. He began to feel a new feeling for the thing, as if he should protect it from harm, from everything bad besides his fellow cats.
So it began.
The cat ran to his friends back at the city, telling them the power of this plant and how he became so strong. The cats didn't believe him as they thought he was crazy, and told him that he was naturally strong and extremely tall. Some called him a dog he was so big. Though it seemed like most of the cats hated him, only one believed him. So he followed the cat to the flower, touching it with his nose. The same effects took place to that cat as well as the first one, as he grew in size and his senses became much more vibrant. The two cats ran back to the city, telling them that the plant actually exists. Each day from then on, more and more cats touched the flower, becoming tall and as powerful as the first cat, who later became the leader of their already large group. As months passed by, more and more cats were recruited, as they began to build houses and walls protecting the flower. They cut down trees, widened the clearing, making the flower the center of it all, unplucked and still fresh.
One year later, when the group of cats had grown to around 100, the leader announced the big plan of a castle to protect the flower from strange animals like dogs and birds. They all agreed and began building it out of stone and the purple amethyst that the flower was made of. In the middle of the construction, others had heard of the kingdom underway of being made. They thought that the kingdom was bad and ruined the beautiful landscape. These animals tried to negotiate with the cats to make them stop and forget all of it, but the cats refused because of how far they had come. The tension started to build between the two groups until the animals attacked the cats, killing half of the cats including the leader. But the kingdom cats did not give up, as they fought on until the last of the animals ran with their tails between their legs. The cats cheered that they won in the end, even though they were heavily wounded and exhausted, they were still happy that their kingdom could still continue on. The next day, a new leader was chosen to take over the previous one, ordering the healthy cats to continue the building of the castle, while the injured ones rest until they had their strength back. The castle continued to be built, growing larger in size every day, until the final stone was placed.
