Sans is a MONSTER and not a HUMAN, so he doesn't follow HUMAN biology like a HUMAN skeleton. Same with Gaster and Papyrus.

----------------------

"man am i beat." The skeleton couldn't help but exhale, as he was stretching his arms up towards the ceiling while laying in bed. It was currently late at night, and even though Sans had gotten back from work literal hours ago, he was still feeling so exhausted from the day he had. His wife - Frisk - couldn't help but let out a small giggle, as she closed a book she appeared to be reading, before placing it aside.

"Hard day?" She wondered, as she found herself cuddling up to his chest, allowing her hand to rest upon the covers around his ribcage, while he was putting an arm around her in return.

"ya could say that." Sans hummed back with a soft chuckle of his own. It was rare nowadays that he found himself having tough days at his job... After all, since settling down and having a family, the skeleton knew he had always wanted to focus more on them than work. Gaster probably knew that too, since becoming the boss... It's probably why he had really loosened Sans' workload over the years.

Heck, on a few occasions Gaster had tried to convince Sans to just retire, and stay at home with the family. Or maybe even find something new to do, but it's not like Sans was an old man like his father yet, and he still found enjoyment in his work, even if he was doing less of it. He still couldn't see himself going from dealing with dangerous opposing thugs, to working behind a till at Walmart.

"I hope they're not working you too hard." Frisk teased with a smile, before the two of them fell into comfortable silence, just laying in each other's arms... It was like this on most nights, they'd chat, and cuddle, before falling asleep together in a comfortable embrace... Except, Frisk had more to say tonight. "Hey, Sans?" She spoke up, as she slightly pulled away from the hug, to glance at her husband.

He of course let out a small noise to show he was listening, while his pupils glanced to her beautiful blue, glistening eyes... Still as wonderful as the day he fell in love with them. "I wanted to talk to you about something. About Leo." She said. "He seemed a little off when he came home from school today. A lot more quieter than usual." She murmured.

It was true that Leo usually was the quiet type... A trait he likely picked up from his father, as Sans could be more of the silent type, at least when he wasn't around people he trusted that is. But Leo was definitely much more silent than normal, like he had something that was bothering him, and despite Frisk trying to ask about his day, he didn't have a lot to say. Sans couldn't help but sigh, when Frisk told him this.

"maybe he's gettin' picked on again..." The skeleton grumbled with distaste, as Leo really had a hard time trying to get people to like him over the years when it came to school. Sans and Frisk really didn't understand it how people could be so cruel. It just made them glad that Leo still had his childhood friend - Kyle - that stuck by him. And of course who could forget: his sister Luna. Those two were practically inseparable a lot of the time.

"Maybe. When I tried to ask him about it, he wouldn't tell me." Frisk sighed sadly, as her finger began drawing small circles upon the bedcovers in thought. She knew Leo had Sans' stubborn side, so it was a lot harder to get things out of him, and sometimes you really had to crack at it before you could hear a peep about his feelings. But Frisk was Leo's mother. She desperately wanted him to be more open with her. "Maybe he'll talk to you about it?" Frisk wondered, as she lifted her head to glance up towards those two dark sockets of his, allowing her blue eyes to land upon his two white pupils.

He of course let out a small chuckle, as he leaned forward a little to press a small kiss to her forehead. "of course, i can talk to him tomorrow mornin' before school." Sans promised, which earned a smile of relief from Frisk. They were always such a good team when it came to being parents - at least, they liked to think so.

Ever since Leo and Luna had been born, it had been such a learning curve... What to do and what not to do. There had been many opportunities where both of them had messed up and had to make things right... But now they could say with absolute confidence that they were always doing their absolute damned best to look after their children. Even going as far as to hide a dark part of their lives away from them.

Since the day Leo and Luna had come into this world, they had agreed on one thing: and that was keeping the Mafia a secret. In all honesty, the parents were surprised they had managed to keep such a secret for all of this time. Especially with a smart son like Leo... It had been shocking that the human skeletal monster hadn't started prying into their business yet.

Though... In all honesty, part of Frisk was concerned that was what Leo was upset about. What if he knew something? What if he found out what secrets they were hiding and suddenly thought they were terrible parents? Would he hate them? Despise them? It was hard to tell. Frisk let out a small surprised noise when she felt the skeleton deliver a light kiss to her head. She smiled.

"What was that for?" She wondered. Sans chuckled.

"ya had your worry face on." Sans teased back, as he gave his wife a light squeeze within his arms. "don't worry frisk, i'll find out what the matter is tomorrow." He promised.

"I know..." Frisk nodded in return. "I just... My worst fear is him finding out the truth." She sheepishly smiled. As far as Leo was concerned, Sans and Frisk had lived completely normal lives. She was, and had always just been a waitress, while Sans did "business". It was the lie they always went by to convince their kids that they hadn't lived their lives outside of the law. It was true that Frisk didn't really involve herself in any of that stuff anymore, but...

She had still killed people with her own hands. Heck, when her and Andrew were first getting to know each other, she helped Sans kidnap him to hold him as a hostage. Imagine them finding out something like that. Just what would they think?

"i know sweetheart... but as long as we continue to be careful, they won't ever find out." He said. Because it also wasn't just about protecting their own self image. It was also about protecting them, and their innocence.

They could have decent, normal lives... Make a good living, after going off to college, and neither of the parents wanted their kids views and dreams to be shattered by the Mafia. It wasn't an easy job. And while Sans wouldn't change his involvement, because it's what caused him to meet Frisk... He knew it wasn't something he wanted he wanted his kids to get involved in.

"Yeah..." Frisk sighed, as she snuggled a little closer to her husband. "I know..."
