The next morning, I woke up and got ready for school as usual. I wore some random red top with a denim skirt and black Converse. When I opened the front door and was about to leave home, I jumped.
Edward was standing by the door, waiting for me.
“Morning gorgeous,” he scanned me from head to toe, and looked me in the eye. He was wearing a white T-shirt and red skinny jeans, with black hightops, “We match!”
“Wh – why are you here?” I was shocked.
“To walk you to school,” he shrugged like it happened every day.
“Why are you doing this?”
“Because I live nearby and I’m your boyfriend?”
“You’re just—”
“Hey what’s hap – oh hello Edward!” Mum walked towards us, checking what the fuss was about, “That’s so sweet of you to come this early for (Yn)!”
“Good morning Mrs. (your last name),” Edward smiled at Mum, “I miss her already so I thought I’ll come to pick her up.”
I gave him a look and he smirked.
“Awww,” Mum smiled at him, “That’s so cute! Okay, off you go now, bye!”
We said goodbye to Mum and when the door was closed, I turned to Edward.
“Hmmm,” I glared at him, “What was that all about?”
“Just to get on your mum’s good term,” he grinned, “She likes me you know.”
“Whatever,” I shook my head and walked down the street. Edward followed.
When we were about to reach school, Edward grabbed my hand.
“Hey!” I pulled my hand away.
“Be a professional actress okay!” Edward grabbed my hand again, and this time I did not protest, “Or I won’t keep my promise!”
“You’re so mean!”
“Wait till you fall in love with me,” he lowered his head and whispered in my ear.
“You wish,” I said grumpily.
When we walked into the school ground, a girl by the gate gasped and the people around turned to follow her gaze. Soon enough everyone had their eyes on us, and on our linked hands.
“They’re really together!” I heard a girl whispered too loudly to her friend, “I thought she didn’t like him?”
“How could she refuse; he’s too charming!” her friend whispered back, with the same volume.
I secretly cursed in my mind. Edward looked at my face and chuckled.
I looked up at the entrance, and saw Edward’s huge group of friends there. The girls, including Amanda, looked shocked, but when they caught me looking at them, they broke into smiles. I was relieved.
However, they boys all looked sad and defeated, except Alan and James, who were laughing together.
“Edward will be Edward,” I heard one boy said, “You just can’t compare with him.”
We walked up to them, “Finally you’re a pair!” Amanda said, delighted.
“Yeah,” Edward said smugly, looking at the boys.
“How did you make her fall for you?” James asked curiously. Alan was still laughing.
“Top secret,” he simply said.
“What, are you scared that we might steal her away?” a boy asked jokingly, but bitterly.
“Of course not, I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to do that!” Edward released my hand and wrapped his arm around my waist instead. He giggled, knowing that he was getting on my nerves.
I saw someone passing by, and it was Dylan. He looked shocked, but when he saw me staring at him, he gave me a weak smile.
We then leave Edward’s friends and went to the classroom, as I needed to sit down. My ankle was not yet completely healed.
Dylan would be in the same lesson with us during today’s first period, and I spotted him sitting in the corner. When he saw me, he quickly looked away. I cursed under my breath, thinking of how stupid I was to agree to this deal.
Edward saw my expression, reading my mind, “(Yn), you can’t back off now, or I won’t keep my promise, and I can’t guarantee that I will offer this deal to you again!”
I sighed, and sat down. Edward sat next to me and kissed my cheek. I was getting annoyed, but I could not flip in front of everyone, because of that pointless agreement.
Edward took this chance to play with my hair, and I just sat there silently.
“Will your mum be at home after school today?” Edward suddenly asked.
“Why do you want to know? What if I say she will be?” I asked, getting suspicious, “You’re not planning to – you know, we’re just pre—”
“Shhh!” he shushed me, “Be careful of what you say okay!”
“Sorry,” I mumbled, “You haven’t answered me.”
“I just want to start working on my plan,” he said lowering his voice, “To make you feel happy around me.”
“Trying too hard won’t be any help,” I reminded him.
“I know, so what do you want to do after school?”
“Do I really have to spend so much time with you?”
“We have to make it real! Your mum will get suspicious if we’re not like any other normal teenagers who always stick to each other,”
I sighed, “Whatever you want, happy?”
“Good,” he grinned, “I’ll bring you home first and you get ready and I’ll bring you to my place.”
“What do YOU want to do?” I asked suspiciously.
“Alright, my parents are out, but don’t worry I won’t try anything,” he assured me, “We’re just going to watch some movies!”
I thought for a while, “Okay then,” I agreed to the plan.
Throughout the day, it was quite okay, except the fact that Dylan was avoiding me. Well, us, because Edward was always by my side.
During lunch, Edward noticed my disappointment.
“What’s wrong baby?” he whispered in my ear.
“Don’t call me that okay,” I whispered back.
“I can’t help it; I’m a professional actor!”
I hit his arm playfully, and Dylan looked at us. I quickly brought my focus back to my lunch.
Edward saw the whole thing and he whispered, “I know what’s happening now… Don’t worry; I’ll make it up to you after school,”
“You’d better,” I muttered.

When school was over, of course, Edward walked me home.
Mum opened the door for me when I was unlocking it, “Hey honey,” she said, and was very happy to see Edward, “Hi Edward!”
“Hi Mrs. (your last name),” he smiled his Edward smile at her. Mum looked at me, and I could tell that she was trying to tell me Edward was charming.
“Come on in,” Mum made way for us.
“Actually Mrs. (your last name),” Edward told Mum, “I’m planning to bring (Yn) to my house to watch some movies, if you don’t mind?”
Mum seemed happy to hear that, “Of course I don’t!” she did not even ask if we would be alone at his house.
“Thanks Mrs. (your last name),” Edward smiled at Mum again, “I’ll pick you up at five.” He told me.
“Okay,” I replied.
“See you later,” he kissed my cheek, and I heard Mum said “so cute!”
Edward said goodbye to Mum, and when I had closed the door, Mum just told me to have fun later and walked to the kitchen happily, humming to herself.
I went upstairs to finish my homework and changed into some shorts and hoodie.
When it was five to five, I heard the doorbell rang. I went downstairs a few moments later, and Mum had already let Edward in.
“Wait for a minute more,” I told him, and ran back to my room to fix up my hair, letting my hair fall loose from the bun.
I went back downstairs, and Mum told us to have fun. We walked to Edward’s house, which was only five minutes away.
I was starting to get nervous; I was sure he would not try anything, but still, I was getting nervous. Hopefully that did not mean anything.
