Today is my last meeting with Camille the wedding planner before the wedding next week. Darren is at work so I'm doing this one on my own. "Ok hun, the last thing we need to check on is your final guest list. Have you decided?"
I know I'm not inviting my father. But what about Mamá? And Talia was my best friend. Besides Angie and Darren, I have no one. I nodded my head and pushed the cards away. "I'm not inviting any of my family."
She gave me a sympathetic smile and stood up. "Well! If there isn't anything else you need, I'll be on my way." I smiled and walked her to the door. We hugged before she left. After closing the door I got a call from Darren.
"Hello?"
"Hello princess"
"Hey baby"
" How did the meeting go? Sorry I couldn't be there."
"No no it's ok, the meeting went fine."
"Ok well get your cute butt in the car and meet me at the bistro."
Since I have been taking self-defense, Darren has been more comfortable letting me do things without a driver or bodyguard. This freedom will be short-lived because once we are married, I will have a target on my back.
"Ok baby i'll be there in 10."
"I love you."

We hung up and I grabbed my keys.
On the way there I tried to shake my thoughts of my mom out of my head.
When I arrived at the bistro he was waiting for me at the door. "Mm hello fianceé, " I giggled and kissed him softly. we walked to the roof of the bistro to eat lunch. He held my hand from across the table while we laughed and ate. When we left he grabbed my waist before we could get in the car.
"What's wrong my love?" he asked. I looked down and shook my head. "Don't lie to me little girl." he tilted my chin up and gave me a stern look. "I just...I feel bad for not inviting my mother to the wedding."
He sighed and brushed my hair behind my ear. " You miss her huh?" I nodded and hugged him. " it's not too late you know?" " I don't think she would want to see me. She probably hates me for leaving."
"She doesn't hate you, princess" he pulled me in close for a hug and kisses on my head.
