Mummy's Jewels.
10th of September, 2010.
Apartment 8, Kensington Palace - Princess Coraline's Residence.
Matthew had been to London before, in fact, he absolutely loved it. But that didn't stop his girlfriend from worrying about him when he decided to go grocery shopping while she was asleep, waiting for him when she woke up.
She received a knock at the door, furrowing her eyebrows. Martin wasn't in today, it Friday, a day off. Swinging the door open, she was met with the antsy figure of her oldest brother. "Hey, Will. What's going on?" She let him in, dreading a conversation that may come.
He swiftly turned to her. "You know I love you, right?"
"Yeah?" She answered, utterly confused by the sentiment.
"You're my little sister, and I want the complete best for you. I'd never do anything to hurt you."
She let out a nervous laugh. "William, you're scaring me."
"I need mum's ring. Please."
Salty tears flooded Coraline's waterline, her mouth running dry and suddenly her throat is too dry, no matter how much she tries to swallow it away. She doesn't trust herself to speak, and hates herself even more when all she says is "Oh." She shakes her head, trying to shake the feeling away, too. "Are you sure? I mean, Kate's great and all but can she handle it?"
"We've been together for 7 years, and dad says it's time."
She scoffed. "So you're doing this because dad says you should?"
William closed his eyes, frustrated with his own choice of words. "No, no."
"Really? Then what about the time you broke up with her over the phone? Left her in tears before Christmas?"
"Cora, I love her."
She sucked in a deep breath, before disappearing to another room, leaving the prince to pace in a state of utter nervousness until she came back, harshly placing the small box in his hand. "Take it."
"Thank you. So much. I'm sorry."
She shook her head. "No, it's fitting. One day that ring is going to sit on the throne." She forced a smile, guiding him to the door where she showed him out, closing it shut and allowing a sob to escape her.

St. James' Park.
Clad in jumpers and shorts, both blondes lightly jogged their way throughout the nearly empty park, the princess' security detail not too far back.
"William's taken the ring."
Chelsy lips instantly fell into a frown. "Didn't think the prick had it in him. When's he asking her?"
Coraline sighed. "On their trip to Africa next month, I think. I doubt she'll say no, she's quite smitten."
"At least you don't hate her. I'm sure you'll get used to her poshness in time. In the 7 years they've been together, you've only met her a handful of times."
