A/N: request chapter from one of my most amazing readers WestHamBabe

In this one we're going to alter reality and say that gay marriage was legal in the 80s

I had this done a long time ago, but the book glitched and deleted the story so yayyyyy.
Sorry it took so damn long guys.

Tommy Lee, 1986

I nervously twist my belt loops. Nikki is in the bathroom, and we're about to board a flight to go see his grandparents. Nikki has obviously met my parents because they live in Covina, and we both live in Van Nuys, but his grandparents live in Idaho. Normally, I wouldn't be worried about meeting a boyfriend or girlfriends parents, but this time is different.

This time, I'm going to ask them for permission to marry Nikki. Or rather, to propose to him. We've been dating since new years eve 1981, and I think it's time. Same sex marriage was legalized earlier this year, something both I and Nikki were overjoyed about.

I pat the pocket of my striped baggy shirt, making sure the ring is still in there. I had it custom made, perks of being a rockstar. I feel the box through the fabric and sigh in relief, stretching out in the uncomfortable terminal chair. A couple of seconds later, I feel someone touch my shoulder. I quickly whip around, worried it's the paparazzi or something, considering they've been taking pictures of us earlier.

Instead of being met with the flash of a camera, or some eager journalist, I'm met with the kind green eyes of Nikki. He smiles, pulling me into a gentle kiss. Our mouths fit perfectly with each other, and I whimper when we're forced to pull away and board the plane.

The ride actually goes surprisingly well, and before I know it, Nikki is getting a truck he rented so we can drive through rural Idaho.

"Are you ready? We can go fishing, hiking, look at the stars, tree climbing..." Nikki rants excitedly, loading our bags into the flatbed.

"I didn't know you were so outdoorsy. I kinda like it, all rugged and shit." I mumble into his ear, wrapping my arms around his strong waist and grazing my lips across his neck.

He pushes me up against the truck, causing me to moan a little. He grabs my jaw and pulls me into a kiss. It's electric, his strong hands enveloping my face as we kiss. My lungs scream for air, forcing me to push him away slightly. "Hey Nikki, your grandparents are supportive of us right?" I ask, getting a twinge of nervousness in my stomach.

"Yeah, why? I mean they're just a little confused, but why?" Nikki asks, turning to face me.

"No reason." I say quickly.

"...o...kayyyy?" Nikki mumbles, sucking his teeth as we hop into the car.

The rest of the drive is in a comfortable silence, Nikki expertly guiding the large truck through the small towns and out into the woods. Nikki had this house built for his grandparents just outside of Jerome, Idaho. He spent part of his childhood here. They refused to accept the money and offering at first, but Nikki finally persuaded them to accept it after mentioning that they had to deal with him all those years.

I don't know much about Niks family. He always refuses to open up to me. What I do know is that Nikkis Nona is his favorite person in the world, and he loves his Grandpa Tom to death. Another thing I know, is that he hates his mother, but I don't know why.

A few moments later, we turn into a long driveway leading up to a rustic looking house. Nikki leans over and gives me a kiss, our lips fitting together like puzzle pieces. "Remember our rule?" He asks.
