- FLASHBACK TO WHEN Y/N WAS 10 -
I was curled up on my window seat that Thursday afternoon, reading my favorite novel, the Chaser's Challenge by Christabelle Greyheart. "Y/N! Louis is here to see ya." Mum yelled from downstairs. Even though it interrupted the tranquility of my book, I was thrilled to hear that Louis came. I haven't seen him in a week. "Coming, Mum!" I replied.
I hurried down the stairs, even skipping a few, which resulted in little thumps each time. "Y/N! I told you not to do that!" Mum said. I could tell she was irritated.
"Sorry, Mum." I quickly said, monotoned.
"Really?" She slightly tilted her head forward and raised her eyebrows. I gave her a 'please-don't-embarrass-me-right-now' look. "Very well, then."
"Bye, Mum."I headed off with Louis. He was wearing a cream sweatshirt with jeans. I twirled around to face him and asked: "Wait a second, where are we going?"
He chuckled: "The Nook, of course!" The Nook was our special hang-out spot Louis and I had ever since we were 5. It was a treehouse we customized and decorated to our own liking. All of a sudden, he grabbed my hand. "Let's go, Y/N!"
We meandered through my parents' garden and frolicked in their array of roses. The autumn breeze lightly brushed against my face. As soon as I climbed up onto the treehouse, I flopped onto our giant bean bag. "Y-Y/N, uh-I... I have to tell you something." Louis stammered.
"Ok, say it then!"At that moment, his bright smile was wiped from his face. "I'm moving to France."
"Ha-ha, very funny, Louis." I replied sarcastically.
" I'm not joking." His face was emotionless. My heart dropped.
"Wh-what? Why?"
"Well, Father got promoted to work in the French Ministry of Magic as a type of British Representative. Anyways, Mum had family and a house there... because, you know, my family is half-French."
"Oh... well... when are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow morn-"
"Tomorrow morning?"I leapt to my feet. No... This can't happen. When I sat back down, Louis was beside me. He hugged me while I rested my head on his shoulder, quietly sobbing.
That evening, I waved a goodbye to him as his elegant carriage drove off. I did so until he was no longer in sight. I just lost a best friend. My closest one. My only one. Until...
- PRESENT -
"Louis, you're back!" I whisper under my breath. "I've missed you so much."
"Y/N, I've missed you too!"
Professor Dumbledore suddenly cleared his throat. I turned around to see all the teachers giving me an uncomfortable look and Dumbledore raising an eyebrow.
"Oh... uh-I... I'm sorry, professor." Then I turned around to Louis. "I'll see you later." I give him an awkward smile before sitting down in my seat. My friends gave me a judgmental look as Professor Dumbledore resumes his speech."Well, Mr Partridge must be sorted into his house." Louis sat on the stool and Professor McGonagall placed the Sorting Hat on his head. "Hmmmm..... Gryffindor!" The Gryffindor table cheered while Louis searched for a seat. I peered over to see he settled between Seamus and Ron - both of which are my best friends so I assumed that they were very welcoming and friendly.
Professor Dumbledore stood up again and proclaimed: "May the feast begin!" The cloches were magically lifted into the air, unveiling the delicious plates of food. All the excitement has distracted me from my hunger. I, along with many others, eyed the abundant stack of roasted chicken drumsticks. However, before I could devour any of the food, my friends' curiosity came over them.
"What was that all about?" Pansy interrogated.
"Yeah, why'd you do that?" Blaise added.
I sighed and explained the whole situation from when we were little to the last time I saw him. Draco seemed startled. "You can't hang out with him!" He snapped.
"What! Why?" I snapped back.
"You just can't!" Draco said coldly.
"Don't be unreasonable, Draco. Louis is one of my oldest friends. I don't see any reason why not to-"
"You can't hang around Gryffinwhores like that now!" Draco insisted. He glanced over to where Louis was sitting. "A-And he's friends with Pottah and his crew." Yes, it was rude but it was just the usual Draco so I let it slide.
"Draco. Be nice to him. I'll introduce you guys to him later. Plus, I hang out with Harry and his friends a lot - in fact, we're very close - and you didn't have much of a problem with it before!" I debated.I couldn't be bothered about Draco's problem right now, I was starving! I'll just worry about it later.
