Helena scrambled some eggs for herself and Mark in their kitchen, sunlight coming through her window, as Mark left the bathroom, his hair still damp from his shower. She hummed quietly as she cooked, basking in the warmth and comfort of their domestic life.

"Have you watered Mary, Shrek and Sally, querido?" The girl asked from her place on the stove, a smile on her face.

"Oh, crap, I forgot about Sally." The man let out, moving to fill a cup of water at the sink and water the succulent on the countertop.

"Are you gonna forget to feed out children too?" Helena giggled, serving the eggs onto two separate plates.

At that, Mark looked up from the plant, approaching Helena with a bright smile. "You wanna have kid with me?" His voice was soft, almost moved, as he spoke.

"One day, yes. Not now, thought, I'm still just a third year resident. Plus, we should get married first, right?" She asked, the man hugging her waist from behind as Helena poured them some coffee, smiling.

"I agree. One day, not now." Mark kissed her cheek, moving to sit on one of their kitchen stools, Helena giving him his eggs and doing the same.

"So, are we clear for today's plan?" She asked, taking a bite of the eggs.

"These are good, Lee." The man smiled at her as he tried his breakfast. "So, I have my speech first and you're coming to work in the morning. Then, you're leaving after lunch to pick your family up from the airport and you'll spend the afternoon with them. I'll join you three for dinner at home, which you mother offered to make, right?"

"Right. You're gonna love it, she's making Portuguese food." Helena played with her food when she answered. "Oh, but don't be nervous. You know who they say dogs can smell fear? That's my mom." At that, Mark's face went pale, Helena letting out a little giggle. "Be respectful and nice and she'll like you. She's probably make you sweat a bit in the beginning, but she'll soften up. Also, my brother will probably tease me about you being older, ignore him, that's Denny."

"W-what if she doesn't like me?" Mark asked, nervously.

"She will like you, because I like you. Also, she was always meaner to the women I brought home." Helena shrugged, picking up their plates and taking them to the sink. "Wanna go over your speech again before we leave?"

"Sure." The man nodded as he grabbed his keys and wallet, launching into his speech. "I know what you're all thinking..."

——

"Morning." Helena smiled up to Derek and Bailey as she settled by them, as the Chief explained the new computer model for scheduling surgeries, Mark standing bedside him.

Most doctors seemed a bit grumpy as Webber spoke. "And to make sure this is the right decision I have enlisted one of our own to do a trial run for the last month. Dr. Sloan."
