Maya's pov

When my shift was over, I decided to go and see Carina at the hospital, seeing as she will be working for another few hours. As I was walking out, I saw Vic and Travis stood in the lobby.

"Hey Maya, you want to come to the bar for a bit?" Vic asked but I shook my head.

"I'm going to see Carina at the hospital, but I might come after depending on the time," I told them.

"Okay, if not, we'll see you tomorrow," she said and I nodded before heading to my car. I decided to go home and get changed first, so it wasn't long before I was at mine and Carina's apartment. I quickly got changed into some jeans, a dark red t-shirt and my checked jacket.  Soon, I was ready to leave again.

When I pulled up into the hospital parking lot, I saw Chief Bailey, Bens wife, so I decided to say hi.

"Chief Bailey, hi!" I shouted to get her attention. She spun around on her heel and started to walk over when she saw me.

"Captain Bishop, what are you doing here? Is something wrong?" She asked, instantly assuming the worst.

"No, I just came to see Carina," I laughed.

"Oh, of course, I can page her when we get in if you want," she suggested.

"No, it's fine. I'm sure I'll be able to find her, assuming she's not in surgery. Anyway I'm just going to go and get her a coffee, do you want one?" I asked.

"Thanks for the offer, but I really need to get in, I've got a lot to get done," she said. After I had said bye to Bailey, I headed over to the coffee cart to order Carina and myself coffees.

As I was waiting for them to be ready, I felt someone walk up beside me.

"Maya, right? Carina's girlfriend?" she said, and I realised where I recognised her from. She had been there when I came to apologize to Carina after I cheated on her with Jack.

"Yes, hi!" I said, not knowing her name.

"I'm Teddy, I work with Carina," she introduced herself. I was about to say something else when the person at the coffee cart called my name.

"Well I've got to go, but it was nice seeing you Teddy," I said.

"You too, bye," she said.

I walked into the hospital, and Carina wasn't in the ER, so I assumed she would be upstairs in the OBGYN ward. I headed up, and sure enough she was stood at a nurses station writing in a chart.

"Carina!" I called out, and her head shot up at hearing my voice.

"Maya, what are you doing here?" she asked, surprised to see me.

"I just came to see you, and I bought coffee if you're not busy," I said and she checked her watch.

"I have a consult in ten minutes, but until then I'm free. Come on, we can go to the attendings lounge," she said smiling. I passed her one of the coffees and then we walked to the attendings lounge hand in hand.

When we got there, there were only a few other doctors in the room. I recognized a few of them from dropping patients off, but not all.

"Everyone this is my girlfriend, Maya. Maya, this is Dr Hunt, you've probably seen him in the ER. This is Dr Karev, head of peds. Dr Pierce, head of cardio. And this is Andrew, my little brother, who shouldn't be in here because he's a resident not an attending," Carina said, glaring at her brother.

For a while, all of us sat and talked, before Carina had to leave for her appointment.

"Maya you should probably go now, I'll see you at home," she said.

"She can stay here for a bit if she wants, we can keep her company," Dr Pierce said.

"No she should really be going," Carina insisted and I looked at her confused.

"Is everything okay?" I asked.

"Yes, just you've had a long shift, you should go home and get some rest. I've got to go and do a consult now, you know the way out," she said, and I frowned. What was going on with her all of a sudden? Despite my thoughts, I nodded.

I went to the bathroom before I left, and as I was walking out, I saw Andy stood in the waiting room talking to Dr Grey. At first I thought it was strange, but then I remembered that the two of them were friends. But then Carina walked over to them and I started to get angry. She said she had a consult, and she was so insistent on me leaving, but she has time to stand and talk to Andy? I watched as Dr Grey hugged Andy before walking off, leaving Andy and Carina alone. I wasn't close enough to hear what they were saying but I saw Andy gesturing towards the doors after Carina had said something. Then they both sat down to talk, and I edged a bit closer so I could listen in. I hid behind a pillar sort of thing, so that they couldn't see me.

"Oh look, there he is," Andy said turning around and smiling. I followed where she was looking and I was surprised to see Chief Sullivan walking over to them.

"Hey, sorry I'm late, I got caught up in traffic," he apologized, just as Andy stood up and kissed him.

I was so confused at what just happened. Andy and Sullivan? Last time I checked they hated each other, now they're kissing?

"It's fine," Carina said. "So how has the pregnancy been going so far?"

"Good, except for the morning sickness and the hormones," Andy replied.

"Yes I don't think I've ever seen her get so upset about dropping a photo, even if it was one of our wedding," Sullivan said in a teasing tone, and all three of them laughed, Andy slapping his arm playfully.

"Hey, blame our kid, not me," Andy said defensively. At this point, they started to walk away, so I couldn't hear anymore of their conversation. Which was probably a good thing, because I don't think I could take anymore surprising news today.

Andy's pregnant? And married? To the battalion chief of all people.

Both of those are things I never would've thought would happen in a million years. But here we are.
