Robert's pov
Later this evening, I was taking Andy out on a date to a romantic restaurant downtown. Except, I had more planned than just eating dinner and talking.
But for now, we were still on shift. I was sat in my office, trying to fill out some incident reports, but I was too nervous for tonight. I checked my phone and saw that there was only half an hour left of this shift, so I decided to just call it a day.
I finished off the report I was doing, and then went up to the beanery to get a coffee. When I got there, Andy was sat at the table, and it was just us in the room.
"Hey. So I have a surprise planned for tonight, wear something fancy and be ready for 9," I told her, and she looked up from the magazine she was reading.
"Ooo where are we going?" Andy asked excitedly.
"You know, the point of a surprise is that you don't know where we're going," I teased her, and we both laughed.
A few seconds later, Montgomery and Hughes walked in the room, so I turned back to making my coffee. Nobody knows about Andy and I, because a relationship between us is against the rules, so we have to be careful.
"Okay. Andy, Captain, we need you two to settle this for us. Strawberry or chocolate ice cream, which is better?" Montgomery asked.
"Strawberry," Andy and I answered at exactly the same time, causing all of us to start laughing.
"Thank you! That's what I've been trying to tell Travis all day; strawberry ice cream is better!" Hughes said, throwing her hands in the air to prove her point.
"Okay, but are we not going to talk about how creepy that was? You two just said that in exact sync," Montgomery said, looking between Andy and I.
"Just proves how obvious it is that strawberry's better," Andy said, shrugging her shoulders.
After shift, Andy and I headed home in our separate cars so that nobody would see us together. When we got there, we both went to get ready. Andy still didn't know where we were going, but she knew to wear something fancy.
I went into the bedroom to get changed, and she went into the en-suite, after grabbing a few things. I got a suit out of the closet, and put it on quickly. Then, I sat on the bed and waited. About half an hour later, Andy walked into the bedroom. She was wearing a tight red dress that went to just above her knees, and her hair was curly.
"You look amazing," I said, walking over to her and putting my hands on her hips.
"You don't look so bad yourself," Andy whispered, standing on her tip toes to kiss me.
I glanced over at the alarm clock by our bed and saw that it was 9pm. I'd made a reservation for 9:30pm, so we had to leave now if we wanted to get there on time.
"As much as I would love to take this further right now, we need to get going," I said, taking Andy's hand in mine.
"Okay, but you're making it up to me when we get back," she replied.
"Mm I'm looking forward to it," I said, kissing her one more time before we headed downstairs.
As I was getting into the car, I put my hand in my pocket, checking for the millionth time that it was still there, which thankfully, it was. I was getting more and more nervous by the second, but also more and more excited. This could either go really well, or really badly.

Andy's pov
As we were on our way to wherever Robert is taking me, I felt my phone buzz in my purse. I took it out and saw a text from Vic.

Vic: Me and Lucas finally told the rest of the team that we're engaged! We're all going out for dinner to celebrate, you coming? You and Sullivan are the only people we still need to know if you're coming, and Ripley's texting him.
Andy: omg yay! I'd love to of come, but I can't, sorry, I've already got plans
Vic: ooo what you doing?
Andy: going on a date with my boyfriend :)
Vic: why didn't I know you're seeing someone?! who is it??
Andy: nobody you know
Vic: okay do I at least get a name?
Andy: nope, sorry. all I'm going to say is that he is amazing and I love him a lot. we've been together a while now.
Vic: awww
Vic: I've got to go, have a good time with ur mystery boyfriend
Andy: I will, hope you have a good time with the team

"Sorry, that was Vic, she asked if I was going for celebratory dinner with the team because her and Ripley announced that they're engaged, but I told her I had plans. Apparently Ripley's going to ask you about it too by the way," I said as I put my phone back in my purse.
"That's great for them! Could you reply on my phone please, just say something along the lines of congrats and I'm sorry I can't come I have plans," Robert said, so I texted Ripley back on his phone.
It wasn't long before the car came to a stop, and I looked out the window to see that we were in the parking lot of a restaurant.
We walked in holding hands, and Robert told the waitress that we had a reservation under the name Sullivan. She led us to a table in the corner, and we both sat down opposite each other.
We looked at the menu and ordered a glass of red wine each, as well as salads for the starter.
When they arrived, we started to eat. About half an hour later, we were deciding what to order for our main course.
"I'll have the chicken dish please," Robert said.
"Um, yeah, I'll have the same please," I agreed. While we were waiting for the food to arrive, we talked about pretty much anything that came to mind.
After we had eaten, and had dessert, I noticed that Robert seemed nervous, but I had no idea why. He was tapping his foot against the floor, and fiddling with the edge of the tablecloth.
At some point, I dropped my fork, so I leant down to pick it up. When I sat back up again, the sight before me made my breath catch in my throat out of surprise, but also happiness. Robert was down on one knee, a jewellery box open in his hands, revealing a gorgeous ring. As he started to speak, a huge smile spread across my face.
"We might not of gotten on that well when we first met, but I've loved you for a long time now Andy, it feels like forever. And I know for a fact that I will love you for the rest of our lives. You are my best friend and the love of my life, and I don't know what I'd do without you. Andy Herrera, will you marry me?" Robert asked.
Grinning, I answered, "Yes, a million times yes. I love you so so so much, and of course I'll marry you."
Robert slid the ring onto my ring finger, and then stood up. As we kissed, I heard clapping, and looked around the restaurant to see that all eyes were on us. Including those of people we both know all too well.

Vic's pov
We were all sat around a table at a fancy restaurant downtown, except Andy and Sullivan, who both already had plans. I was glad that everyone knew about me and Lucas now, it was getting harder and harder to keep our relationship a secret, plus now I get to kiss my fiancé in public.
On one side of the table, there was Lucas, me, Travis and Ben, in that order. On the other side, there was Jack, Dean, Maya and Maya's girlfriend Carina. We were all eating and making small talk when all of a sudden the restaurant got a lot quieter. We looked around and followed where everyone else was looking to see that someone was being proposed to. There was a woman, with curly brown hair, wearing a red dress, who I soon realised was Andy. At first I just got really excited for her. She'd said that she was going out with her boyfriend tonight, so it must of been an amazing surprise for her that he's proposing. Plus, I'd finally get to meet the guy. But when I looked closer, I realised that it was someone I'd already met. Someone that we'd all already met. It was Sullivan.
It didn't make sense, they always act like they hate each other, they were the last people I expected to get together. But then I guess that was just an act to get around the rules. I know a thing or two about secret relationships, and they can't always be easy.
I looked around and saw that everyone else looked just as shocked as I did, even Maya. I'd of thought she would've known, seeing as her and Andy were roommates, but I'm guessing by the look on her face, she had no clue.
As everyone else in the restaurant started to clap, we did too. Sullivan put the ring on Andy's finger, and then he stood up, and they kissed. I had to admit, as shocking and confusing as this was, they were adorable together.
After a few seconds, they pulled apart, and Andy happened to glance in our direction. A look of panic crossed her face, and she whispered something to Sullivan. He turned around, and when he saw us all, he looked just as panicked as Andy.
"Should we go over and say congrats or something?" I whispered, not really talking to anyone in particular.
"No, just let them have their moment. You can talk to them about it at work tomorrow," Lucas said, and we all nodded.
Then, despite how surprised and confused we all were, we turned around and carried on eating, trying to act as though nothing had happened.
