Over the next few weeks I kept on slipping in and out of consciousness, at least I assumed it had been weeks. It was hard to keep track of time.

But the one thing that never changed were the cold fingers holding onto my hand. In the few moments my mind was clear enough to actually register thoughts, I guessed that it was Loki who kept sitting by my side.

Several days, well probably several days, after I had come to realise that Loki stayed with me, I finally managed to open my eyes.

For the past time I had spent in this state, I could only hear, smell and feel things, but for the first time I felt strong enough to open my eyes.

I struggled for a while, but after a few minutes my eyelids fluttered open. Still being in an... interesting mental state, I didn't think about the lights that would be brighter than normally, due to the fact that I hadn't seen light in weeks.

After a while my eyes finally adjusted to those damned lamps and I started to look around.

I then took notice of the fingers, still wrapped around my wrist. Loki's grip on my hand had been so persistent, that by now it felt like a part of me.

Said god was closing to drifting off to sleep. I could see how Loki desperately tried to keep their eyes open, but their head kept slacking down wards, their chin touching the fine asgardian leather.

"Lokes?" I had meant to sound strong, but my voice came out raspy and barley above a whisper.

Loki immediately sat up, their eyes finding their way to mine. "Y-y/n?" Their expression showed mainly shock, as if they hadn't expected me to ever wake up again. It made me question how long I truly was asleep.

As if they had been snapped out of a trance, Loki suddenly got up and left the room almost running.
"BANNER!" I heard them yell through the hallway.

What the actual fuck?

Only a few moments later the god was back, a panting and sleepy looking bruce next to him.

The doctor seemed shocked to see me awake as well, but he handled the situation better than Loki.

Bruce kept his voice calm and asked me about whether I felt pain or not. He checked my vitals and pulled the infusion tube out of my arm, stating that I'd be able to drink now.

When he finished with everything and made sure I was comfortable, he yawned loudly and wished Loki and me a good night.

The moment we were alone an awkward silence spread through the room. My memories had started to clear and I now remembered, that even though Loki had told me they loved me, we were technically still broken up.

I cleared my throat, suddenly becoming aware of how dry it was. "Loki? Could- could you please get me a glass of water?"
They nodded. "Of course."

"Thanks." I smiled weakly at the god. They put the glass down on the nightstand and immediately went back to watching me closely as if I was going to fall unconscious the moment he looked away.

I drank the water in big gulps, sighing in relief when it soothed the ache in my throat.

"Pronouns?" I asked, suddenly aware that I hadn't voiced the question yet.
Their eybrow shot up. "Hm?"
"Your pronouns, Lokes. I'd like to know them."
"Uh- I- He/him right now."

I smiled at the god. "Thanks."

There was another moment of awkward silence, before I decided to finally ask how long I had been asleep.

"I- Loki? How long was I..?" I let my voice trail off, not wanting to use the word coma.

Loki averted his gaze, looking sadder than before. "When that pathetic excuse of a man took you, he held you captive for a week. I killed him. That- that was two months ago."
