Never Hooking Up Again

"Tell me about him," Milo said. "Where'd you meet him?"

"The last time we went to Darcy's, he gave me his number and I went to one of his parties," I explained.

"Is he hot?"

"Yes! Like, rail me hot. I wish I had a picture; maybe I'll take one later." I paused, wondering how to tell him about my recent realization.

I hesitated too long because Milo glared at me and I frowned. "What?"

"You obviously have something to say so hurry up and say it!"

I chuckled before taking a deep breath. "I'm like 74% sure that I have a crush on Seth," I rushed out.

A heavy pause filled the car, and it took a split second for me to think: 74% chance that I might like his enemy. Is he gonna get angry? and then, "Duh?"

I blinked. "Huh?"

He swiveled his head to look at me, looking surprised as well. "Are you serious? You thought I didn't know?"

"You knew? I just found out like two days ago!"

He shook his head, laughing softly. "You're so dumb."

"Apparently," I muttered. "I told Ember and she said the same thing. How did you know before me?"

He shrugged. "You're an aggressive flirter and you've been mean to Seth your whole life."

"Do Calix and Synthia know too?" I asked, sinking deeper into my seat.

"Well, Calix is dumb, so no," —I snickered— "and Synthia might have an inkling. But enough of that; if you know you have a crush on Seth, why are you hooking up with this Owen dude?"

"I'm not completely sure about the crush thing. Only 74% sure—"

"I'm 74% percent sure that you're an idiot."

"—and since Owen is hot, I'm making sure I don't just find Seth hot. Like actual feelings for Seth, not just me being shallow."

"God, you're so dumb," he said as we breezed past restaurants.

I frowned. "What? Why?"

"Why do you have to sleep with someone to make sure your feelings are real?"

"I told you already, it's to make sure I don't only find Seth hot," I said confused.

"You dumb bitch. Can't you just kiss him?"

"Owen? Um, that's what I-"

"No, Seth!"

I froze, put out. Realizing the failure of my logic, I sunk deeper into my seat. "I thought it was a good idea," I grumbled.

He snorted. "Obviously."

Kissing Seth, huh? In a split second of the thought, I felt my face flame. He looks like he'd be a good kisser. With those lips? Definitely.

"If I kiss him, and I don't have feelings for him, then what? Then it's going to be awkward."

The side eye Milo gave me made me feel like an idiot. "When have you ever cared about things being awkward? You're literally proving that you have a huge crush on him right now."

I flailed in my seat. "I'm tired of thinking, this is too complicated. We're gonna go with my way. I can clear up my thoughts and get some dick at the same time."

Milo shook his head, looking exasperated. "I'm tired of you," he said.

"You love me."

When we pulled up to the address Owen gave me, Milo whistled. "These are some nice apartments. Let me know if he's got a hot, rich friend."
