Lunch

We all had the same lunch, so when the bell rang, Calix, Milo, Ember, and I all headed to lunch together.

Once there, I made my way to the guy who bought me Chipotle for lunch, rewarding him with a lingering arm graze.

"You're still using boys for food?" Calix said. "Whorish behavior."

Milo snorted. "Just say you're jealous."

Calix rolled his eyes. "Me? Jealous? As if."

I tore into my food, grinning. "It's okay to be jealous of my feminines wiles."

"Femini-?" He cut himself off with a snort. "Shut up."

We all continued to eat, and out the corner of my eye, I noticed a suspicious someone and laughed.

"Looks like someone can't keep their eyes off you," Ember said, noticing as well.

"Someone?" Calix snorted. "You mean everyone; and as they should. I'd be staring at my fine self too."

"Shut up," Ember groaned.

"Where's my gun?" Milo muttered.

Calix shifted his focus to me. "So, what's the new with you and Seth?"

I gave them the basics of what happened and Milo laughed.

"You like each other but you're not together?" he said. "Is it fun being dumb?"

"I don't know. Maybe you could tell me when my foot is shoved down your throat?"

Ember choked.

"We're gonna take it slow," I continued, "really slow."

Calix snorted. "Okay."

I frowned. "I don't appreciate your lack of faith."

Milo shrugged. "I support the hustle. This is your third boyfriend, right? I think you can do things right this time."

I flung myself at him, wrapping my arms around his neck and burying my fingers in his curly brown hair. "You're the only star in my universe, Milo. Thank you for supporting me," I drew back and glared at Calix, before burying myself back into Milo's neck, "unlike other people."

Milo wrapped his arms around me, chuckling. "Um, Avy, as much as I love your hugs and the feeling of you boobs against me, your rabid dog looks like he's going to tear me apart, so I'm gonna ask you unhand me."

I drew back and glanced in the direction Milo tilted his head at. Seth's eyes locked on mine, so intense I spent less than a second staring at him before looking away.

"You're blushing," Ember said, mirth sparkling in her eyes.

"Shut up, I am not." There was no way. My skin color normally covered up any blush, but my face felt really hot.

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah okay."

I spent the rest of lunch charting with my friends and avoiding Seth's gaze. But thanks to Ember, that all changed when we got home.
