Damn, I Guess I Gotta Be Honest

Once inside, we were greeted by Chad and Cody arguing in the kitchen.  Calvin was watching TV in the living room, so we tried for the dining room. All it took was one glare from Coby's bloodshot eyes and we moved on from the dining room.

We ended up in my room.

I told Seth to wait on my bed while I changed into an old shirt and someone's shorts in my bathroom.

When I came back, he had also changed clothes.

He must've robbed Caleb or Carter, I thought as I made a beeline to my bed before burying into my blankets.

"You said you wanted to talk," I said, voice muffled as I struggled with my blankets until I was in a cocoon, "so talk."

There was slight pause before he spoke. "We kissed."

I closed my eyes, groaning. "Fuck, don't remind me."

The audible swallow made me glance over. His wide eyes were filled with regret, hesitance and a tinge of sadness.

Avy, you fucker.

"Listen Avy—" he gripped at my sheets, twisting them slightly "—we argue a lot—"

No shit.

"—and I can be overbearing sometimes—"

Understatement of the year, but okay.

"—and I know it gets on your nerves but—"

NO FUCKING SHIT SHERLOCK.

"I like you."

Duh, fuckfac—wait what?

Like an idiot, I said: "What?"

His face was steadily flushing but he continued on. "You're really pretty and you're so strong and passionate. When you smile, I, uh," he gave the blankets a fond smile and oh fuck, I want him to look at me like that, "It makes me want to smile. It feels like I'll explode whenever you look at me-"

I knew my eyes had to be bugging out of my head. There was no way Seth was sitting in front of me, listing the reasons why he liked me, but he was and wouldn't stop.

"The way you dance at parties, your carefree spirit, how excited you get around food, and the frustrated look you get when you can't understand math, I like everything.  Your lips, they're so soft and I-"

My hand shot out to cover his mouth. "Stop! Stop talking!"

For the first time today, we held each others stares and I couldn't look away. Seth pulled my hand away from his mouth before pressing a soft kiss to the inside of my wrist.

I shuddered, wanting to bury back in my blankets.

"I like you," he whispered, leaning into my hand. "Please tell me you feel the same."

My thoughts were burning the foundations they were built on. Fuck, run bxtch run! one part of me was shouting. He likes me too! another part was screaming. The part that had never had a coherent thought in its life was saying: I can't be cuffed because cuffed spelled backwards is deffuc and deffuc I look like being cuffed?

Dark eyes searched hazel ones. "Avy? Please say something."

I swallowed and my gaze dropped. "I don't—" I paused.

His hands were trembling. I could see that he was trying to repress it, but his nerves were stronger.

My lips pressed together. I was getting tired of lying to myself anyway. "I like you too," I whispered.

He sucked in a sharp breath and his grip on my wrist tightened a bit. "Really?"

I gave a small nod."Unfortunately."

He huffed out a small laugh before surging forward and crushing me to his chest.

Instantly, I was reminded of Seth's abs.

"I'm so happy," he mumbled into my hair before pulling back slightly and our eyes met.

It was inevitable pull that had our lips crashing together. It was a slow, gentle kiss but filled with no less passion than our last kiss.

"Avy," he breathed as he pulled back.

I shivered at my name on his lips and pecked him again. "Seth," I started, basking in gentle kisses pressed against my throat.

"Yeah?"

FUCKK HIS VOICE.

"We can't be together," I barely managed to get out through the shivers wracking my body.

He paused and drew back, eyebrows drawn together. "What?"

He looks like a fucking puppy. He's dangerous. "A relationship," I clarified. "We can't be in a relationship."

His frown deepened. "Why not?"

"I'm not ready for one."

He leaned back completely, hands gripping the blankets again. "Are you saying you don't want to be with me?"

"Being exclusive doesn't sound fun," I said bluntly. "Being tied down doesn't exactly resonate with my 'carefree spirit' either."

"I can give you fun, Avy," he tried.

I gave a slow shake of my head.

His lips wavered before he gave me a humorless smile. "The girl of my dreams likes me back, but she doesn't want to date."

We sat in silence, mine was awkward as hell and his seemed like he was sulking and stewing at the same time.

He took a deep breath. "Look, since we both like each other, let's just take it slow. No labels or anything. We'll go at your pace and if I'm going too fast, you can tell me stop."

He's serious about this liking me thing, I realized as I mulled over his offer. It seemed like this was the most beneficial to me and I gave a small nod and was rewarded with a blinding smile.

Jesus fuck, PUT THOSE TEETH AWAY.

"Can I kiss you?"

I gave another nod and we both leaned in.

He licked at my bottom lip and he groaned as our tongues swirled together. He planted a small kiss on my lips before moving down to my neck. He licked a long stripe up my neck and that's all it took for me to plant my hands on his shoulders and pushed him away gently. No need for him to catch on to my lady boner.

He stood up and my eyes lasered in on his pants.

Grey sweatpants? Really? Is someone trying to kill me? I licked my lips and did my best to drag my eyes away but when I met his gaze, he was smirking.

"Get out," I mumbled, knowing that I was flushing.

He gave me that mega watt grin and closed my door behind him.
