"You kissed?" Ember all but shouted when I told her at school the next day.

I clamped a hand over her mouth. "Shut the fuck up!" I hissed.

Why are my friends so loud?

"Holy shit," she whispered, amazement clear in her voice.

"He was blowing up my phone last night," I reported, "but he hasn't texted me since this morning."

"Okay, so what are you gonna do now?"

I sighed. "I'm currently avoiding him."

"You coward."

I flipped her off and slumped on the table, groaning.

"You can't avoid him forever," Ember said, voicing my thoughts.

"I can try," I muttered, moving my head to smush my other cheek against the desk before stilling.

Seth was staring at me through the classroom window.

I swore and ducked under my desk.

"The fuck?" Ember mumbled.

"He's outside the fucking window," I hissed, making wild gestures towards his general direction.

She turned, made eye contact with him as well, and burst out laughing.

"It's not funny!"

"It is," she snorted. "Seeing you avoid Seth is hilarious because he's like everywhere."

And she was right. He was everywhere.

In the hallways, his eyes stayed locked on mine until I ducked into my class. In the lunch room, he started towards me before I darted to the bathroom. When I was taking a bathroom break, he was walking out of the boys bathroom on the other side of the hallway. We had a surprise assembly and he was one of the speakers. The entire time, his eyes pinned me to my seat and I wanted to shrink away, but there was nowhere to go.

"Jesus fuck! He's fucking everywhere! Everytime I turn a corner, he's there! Everytime I get up, he's there! Shit, everytime I sit down, he's there!" All of this, I ranted to my friends in Milo's car.

"Maybe you should, I don't know, stop avoiding him?" Milo suggested.

I glared at him from the backseat. "Thanks for the shit idea," I sneered.

We met eyes in the rearview mirror, and I averted mine when I saw his unamused eyes and raised eyebrows.

I shifted awkwardly and sank back into my seat.

"The sexual tension in here just got thick," Sylvia announced from the right side of me.

I dug my elbow into her thigh. "Shut up!" Switching the subject, I turned to my left side. "So how did the confession go?"

Calix's eyes shot to mine and I knew I'd made a mistake.

"Confession?" Ember asked from the passenger seat.
