After spending almost the whole day just switching between talking about serious topics and just bullshitting around about random stuff with Lexie, James claimed that he had to go back before dinner, just as he promised Lars.

"I'm actually sad that I have to leave now," He confessed, pouting comically as he patted Texas. "I mean, I really enjoyed Texas' company."

"Fuck you," She giggled, making him laugh along. "I think he liked you as well."

"Of course he did, it's impossible to not like me, right, little buddy?" James did his best baby voice as he leaned into the little dog, letting it lick his chin and hands in excitement.

Lexie just stared in awe, not able to believe that the big and intimidating James Hetfield was actually a softie when a dog was around.

He raised his head, staring at Lexie. "I really enjoyed your company as well, y'know? It's nice to talk about shit with someone else other than the guys."

"Well, that's great to hear. I'm happy that I have been a good company to you, and I'm also relieved to know that you don't think I'm a psychopath trying to bait you in with my letter."

He chuckled, looking at the window that stood behind her figure to see that the sky was already darkening as the minutes passed by, and he unfortunately couldn't stay any longer.

"I really have to go now, alright? It was really nice to meet the person behind those iconic jokes," He smiled politely. "But don't think that you're gonna get rid of me that easily, I still have a lot of questions to ask!"

James gently reached his hand out to pat her shoulder before leaving, but then, she did something that he definitely wasn't expecting.

At the sight of James' hand, Lexie flinched so hard and distanced herself almost instantly from his touch, looking like she had seen a ghost and scaring the shit out of the man.

He just stared at her blankly, not knowing what to do or what to say, his hand still in the air.

"I'm so sorry, I didn'tㅡ"

"No, no! It's fine, really! I'm justㅡ there's just... Umㅡ I don't thinkㅡ"

"No, please! It was my fault, really. It's okay, I understand, alright?" He nodded at Lexie, making her mimic his act. "I'm running quite late now, I shouldㅡ I should go."
