"Y'know, we really should've brought a cloth or a blanket or something to sit on," Lexie grunted, sitting down in front of James, who crouched down too. "This grass is really prickly."

"Luckily enough, you got those thick-ass pants to protect your legs, huh?" He pointed his chin towards her baggy jeans pants, giggling. "I'm the one who's suffering!"

Lexie smirked at his tight pants, knowing that he was probably dying to scratch his legs. "Tough luck, right? Now, let's get to it before my pie gets all warm and sticky and gross."

"Let's get to what? You still haven't told me what we're doing here, in the middle of this meadow, all alone with a hungry little dog who maybe loves me a bit too much."

She caressed Texas' head, shamelessly ignoring his words before grabbing the small, black, drawstring bag she carried on her left shoulder all along ㅡ and James hadn't even noticed the object dangling beside her since then.

He silently watched with curious eyes as she carefully placed the bag down on the grass in front of her, opening it and taking out a few art supplies, a black leather moleskine, a small notebook with several blank pages and three pieces of charcoal. She stretched the bag out, placing all of those objects on top of it.

With a sigh, she looked at him again, still avoiding eye contact ㅡ as always. "This is what we're gonna do."

"You brought me all the way from your house to this incredible place with awesome food and art supplies? This just sounds like a date to me," He joked, wiggling his eyebrows up and down before seeing her roll her eyes. "I can't draw for shit."

"I don't care, alright? I woke up feeling really creative today and this is what we're gonna do," She reached her hand down to the bag of food, grabbing the little plastic fork to cut a slice of her pie. "And eating, of course."

"Well... If this turns out to be shitty, you can't say I didn't warn ya." He chuckled to himself, grabbing one of the pieces of charcoal.

Lexie kept silent for at least twelve minutes, focused on the drawing she was doing with the charcoal in her hand, already staining the tip of her pale fingers when she spoke up again. "What are you drawing?"
