A Jeweled Rose In Clone Wars

Part 14

'Stars?' Ruby thought as she opened her eyes, 'Am I dead?' She looked around to see someone familiar standing next to her. "Pyrrha?" Ruby asked, "Is this the afterlife? Because it is really painful here." She felt the pain of getting her side stabbed.

"No Ruby, you are alive," Pyrrha stated, "We are just in the World Between Worlds. You will be able to go back to the galaxy."

"Are you coming with me?" Ruby asked her friend.

"No, I am not," Pyrrha replied, "I shouldn't come now. I have a different role to play you need to go." Ruby hugged Pyrrha as she cried apologizing for not being faster. After they finished saying good-bye, went through a portal. 

(WHERE THE PORTAL LEAD TO)

Ruby looked at the damage sustained to her body. It wasn't good, but she stayed positive knowing it could have been worse. Her cape was burnt and the middle of her came had a stab mark in it. She decided to cut it up and use any parts she could to bandage her wound. Luckily, she was still able to walk and went looking for any site of help. Ruby saw that she was a city of some sort so she looked around. She read a sign mentioning that this place had to be somewhere on Mandalore, but where?

She turned her head to see a couple of people beating up security in what looked like a school. Ruby ran to see children hiding under tables and she was disgusted by what she saw. She easily beat up the enemies and knocked them all out. She looked under the table to see children in fear looking at her. "You are safe now," Ruby gently said to them, and they climbed out. "Who were those people?" she said looking at one of the guards.

"The members and even a leader of crime syndicates," he replied, "Thank you for helping us." Just then a lot of members from deathwatch came and saw all the criminals defeated.

"Who are you?" said what seemed to be the group's leader, after she looked around and saw Ruby had a lightsaber.

"Depends on who is asking," Ruby stated, "I also have no idea who you are."

"I am asking," the leader said, "My name is Bo-Katan second in command of Death Watch."

"That doesn't answer much," Ruby said, "I am trying to figure out what my response is meant to be."

"Are you a Jedi?" Bo-Katan asked.

"Yes, why?" Ruby replied.

"Aren't you a little young?" Bo-Katan said as she looked at the girl who couldn't be more than 17.

"I am a padawan and that counts as being a Jedi," Ruby said.

"Where is your master then?" Bo-Katan looked at her.

"I don't know," Ruby said honestly, "Truthfully I am most likely dead according to the Republic."

"What?" Bo-Katan was obviously confused.

"Well, I answered who I am," Ruby said.

"Wait you didn't say your name," another member of the Death Watch said.

"She only wanted to know who I was, and I am a Jedi," Ruby said.

"You are in the Grand Army of the Republic then," Bo-Katan said, "All Jedi are part of the military."

"So what if I am?" Ruby was confused, to say the least, "What are you getting at?" All she saw was Bo-Katan flying away on her jetpack with the other members of Death Watch. Ruby thought about what just happened and knew what she had to do next. "Any chance you could take me to the Dutchess?" she asked one of the guards, and he nodded.

(AT THE THRONEROOM OF MANDALORE)

Satine sat there helplessly, she knew that she couldn't do anything about the terrorist attacks and Death Watch was becoming more popular. The door to the throne room opened, and she expected to see the members of the Death Watch storm in. Instead, she saw a girl walk in.

"Who are you?" Satine said to the girl.

"I am a Jedi padawan named Ruby Rose," she said.

"Why would a Jedi be here?" Satine thought maybe they were trying to put the Republic on her planet, but they would also be able to help.

"I didn't come on the Jedi Order or the Republic's accord," Ruby said, "A friend sent me for a reason I do not yet know."

"Will the Republic come looking for you?" Satine asked.

"No. I am most likely thought to be dead because of an accident," Ruby said, "I guess they believe General Grevious killed me."

"Do you want me to contact the Republic?" Satine said.

"Not yet," the padawan said, "I can tell that this group called Death Watch is behind all these attacks. Why would a leader of a crime syndicate come and attack a school? They have no reason to do that. Also, crime families like to not be noticed and seen by the public eye, and the leaders never come to places where they could easily get caught. I might be able to help you out in this problem, but if you tell the Republic about me, I will have to go back to aid in the war effort."

"Why do you stay here?" Satine said, "When the people of the Republic are dying?"

"The Jedi are meant to be peacekeepers, not soldiers," Ruby said, "But more importantly, according to reports I saw someone familiar. He is the sith apprentice to Darth Maul, and if this is what I think it might be... Mandalore could be screwed if I don't do anything."

"And what do you think this is," Satine said, worried for the sake of her people.

"Maul is trying to set-up a puppet to rule Mandalore," Ruby said, "And that is why they are trying to get the public's opinion so the transfer of power is seamless. However, they know I am here, and they need to play their cards right or they might be attacked by the Republic for killing a Jedi."

"Do you think you can help us?" Satine said.

"Yes. I believe that I can," Ruby replied.
